Well, here we go again. Dodge is releasing another muscle car that will surely blow away everyone in the industry and the market. Currently the last true muscle car automaker standing, pushing the limits of horsepower and performance, the Challenger and the Charger are no mid-engine pony car. The last generation of the Dodge Challenger as a gasoline engine-powered vehicle was coming to an end, and the same fate was in store for the Dodge Charger. This prompted the “Last Call” collection by Dodge, releasing limited runs of seven Dodge muscle cars to relive the glory days of the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger. Now, right around the corner, during the Roadkill Nights powered by Dodge Las Vegas event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Dodge will finally release the fabled seventh and final “Last Call” edition. Based on the cryptic marketing campaign, we’re hoping for one last Dodge Challenger, and the current specs seem to agree.

The lineup so far:

Teaser One “Runnin’ Hyde”, https://youtu.be/75fQOYI-yek

Teaser Two – “Density Matters”, https://youtu.be/mXQi19XWqLI

Teaser Three – “Scream @ 215 mph”, https://youtu.be/-VnDi7xYvag

Teaser Four – “HEMI® Vice”, https://youtu.be/0ihYveQYtD8

Every trailer has been something special, including the announcement ad. From the very beginning, we got a sense of the return of the Dodge SRT Demon with a demonic looking character with reddish skin…that turned out to be just a trick of the light, because in the first official trailer, it turned out to be a happy go lucky Leprechaun. Hooked up to an IV bag filled with a strange golden liquid, that lad went through a huge transformation that turned him into a big and beefy boy. SRT Demon-like attitude, a transformation into a much stronger counterpart? This is just like Dodge when the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the SRT Super Stock first came out.

The trailers that followed gave us a look into the specs. Teaser two was all about “density” and the weight of the larger Leprechaun, coming out to 7.1 pounds. At first, this was thought to be the density of the air through a supercharger, cooling the air, making it denser, so that more could enter the combustion chamber for a much larger explosion of power – but 7.1 pounds of it? The next trailer broke down some possible specs, such as a running a quarter mile in 8.9996 seconds at a top Speed of 131 mph, and an airflow rate of 1582 cubic feet per minute (CFM). There was also a 105 in the equation, leading many to call out the fuel grade number for racing cars. The last ad before today sealed it with the image of a jackhammer powered by a HEMI with a PSI of 1258…or is it 12.58?

Looking at these specs, let’s compare it with the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The SRT Demon ran a quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at a top speed of 140 mph and had an airflow rate of 1,150 CFM. This beast also ran on a high-octane gasoline when using the red key and getting the most out of the engine, a total of 840 horsepower. Lastly, the SRT Demon had a PSI boost of 14.5 PSI. The last ad shows a horsepower rating skyrocketing in a blur, but the last number we can make out is 780 or 790 – the max horsepower for the SRT Hellcat Redeye is 797HP, 807HP for the Super Stock.

Oh, but I have more evidence for my theory.

Every “Last Call” model has been a callback to a legend amongst the two muscle cars. The Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack, Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack Widebody, followed by the 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee, a dual set with the  third and fourth “Last Call” as the 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swingers, the 2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona as the fifth “Last Call” model, and the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost are all icons. I presume to you that we are going to see a return of the SRT Demon, renewed and remade better than before. Dodge learned from its mistakes and realized 840 HP was too much. Even then, they made the SRT Hellcat Redeye, an SRT Demon-inspired model, and the SRT Super Stock. They’ve been testing their limits, and now, it will all pay off with the final “Last Call”, and possibly, the last SRT Demon.

That’s my bet, but we’ll know the truth on March 20, 2023. Join the discussion on Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram social media.
