Dodge Hints at Final and Seventh “Last Call” Model with Odd Teasers
Where o’ where is the last “Last Call” Dodge model? Initially announced in August 2022, muscle car automaker told the world that it was done with gasoline performance engines and skipping right past plug-in electric vehicles (PHEVs) and going straight into all-electric vehicles. The first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) concept has been teased here and there, but before we get an official BEV model, the Dodge Hornet PHEV took the stage. It would seem Dodge isn’t able to keep its word, because the last “Last Call” model, said to debut during the 2022 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas never showed up. Instead, Dodge pushed it all the way back to the 2023 Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Well, that time is coming – set for March 20, 2023. Between then and now, Dodge is dropping teaser videos of the last “Last Call” model, and we’re not sure how to feel about it.
Okay, what the heck is that?! Are we talking a return of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon making a comeback? It wouldn’t be unheard of – we saw some SRT Demon logos and badges during the 2023 Chicago Auto Show, but the Dodge Hornet PHEV took center stage during the Dodge exhibit. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was also a bit of a flop, lasting a short run that didn’t go beyond its first year. Since then, Dodge engineers took a step back and figured out how they could still make SRT Demon-inspired vehicles, like the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. The initial release for that was back in 2019 – time sure flies – but still going strong in the 2023 Dodge Challenger lineup with Jailbreak options.
What are Jailbreak options? Back in 2021, Dodge announced Jailbreak models. A Jailbreak model is a Dodge Challenger customized 100-percent by the consumer. A Jailbreak models unlocks all of the HIP colors and adds new factory-custom options never available before. Introducing options from over 20 categories, consumers have seven options for seats; stripes and wheels; six brake caliper color choices; five exterior badging finishes; four choices of steering wheel styles; seat belt color; floor mats; and so much more. The only catch is consumers can only get a Jailbreak model if they order a SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, SRT Hellcat Widebody, or SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. It makes sense – Dodge isn’t willing to make a 100-percent custom base model. If a consumer is willing to pay upwards of $70k for a Dodge Challenger (or Charger), why not also offer the chance to get it exactly the way they want it?
Back to the “Last Call” models, we’ve seen six-of-the-seven so far. Throughout 2022, we got the Dodge Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack, Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack Widebody, 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swingers duet, 2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona, and the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost. Each model had a limited run of 500 units, and once gone, they’re gone. We’ve all been waiting to see what the seventh “Last Call” Dodge model will be, a Challenger or a Charger, and that first teaser definitely raises some questions. Not sure who they hired to model that goblin-looking creature, but it got the interne talking. No better publicity than that.
Still about a month away, the final “Last Call” special-edition vehicle will be revealed during the Dodge Last Call Powered by Roadkill Nights Vegas one-day performance festival. Currently scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, everyone will be watching this event for multiple reasons. We’ll definitely keep our radar on for the seventh and final “Last Call” Dodge model.
