Jeep Is the First Automaker to Land on the AdWeek The 30 Best Ads of 2022 List

Only a few weeks left this year, and Jeep has managed to pull off a first for the auto industry when it comes to marketing campaigns. All year, we see car commercials, but how many of them really stand out? A marketing campaign seems to start every season, and major automakers will always put together something in an attempt to stand out and keep consumers thinking about the vehicle after the ad ends. The “2022: Earth Odyssey” ad spot was so memorable, that it ranked number two overall among “The 30 Best Ads of 2022” according to Adweek Magazine.
“‘Also sprach Zarathustra’ is often used to introduce something big, which is exactly what we had in mind for both the electrified Jeep Wrangler 4xe and all-new Grand Cherokee 4xe…It’s an honor to have our ‘2022: Earth Odyssey’ commercial recognized by Adweek. And my creative team and I are equally humbled to have this spot, which holds a very special place in all of our hearts, celebrated as it represents the commitment of the Jeep brand to become the global leader in SUV electrification…” – Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis
The ad was used to announce the electrified version of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe. When the latter first had its global release, Jeep celebrated the announcement of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe with the Pale Blue Dot ad. Still stands out years later, originally released a little more than a year ago (September 2020). We linked the “2022: Earth Odyssey” ad below, and the ranking as number two by AdWeek is no small feat. If anything, it’s the first and only automotive brand commercial to receive the honor of landing on the “The 30 Best Ads of 2022” list.
In 2018, Jeep released a five-year roadmap for its product lineup and new business strategy. By 2022, we were supposed to have a refreshed Compass model (the 2023 Jeep Compass) a new Jeep Wrangler JL next-generation model (released in 2018), a Jeep Truck (the Jeep Gladiator), a 3-row SUV (the Grand Cherokee L), a new Grand Cherokee next gen model, a new Cherokee, and the return of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Aside from the new Cherokee, we got a lot of what we were promised by now. By 2021, every model was supposed to have an electrified option, but 2020 put a snag on those plans.
The lineup was supposed to have 10 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) by now, but it seems like they are now a part of the Dare Forward 2030 Stellantis Campaign to release more than 75 BEVs worldwide, with 25 of those models to arrive in the U.S. market. Plus, with the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer making a lot of noise for Jeep in the luxury car segment, the automaker is moving forward with an all-electric version of the Wagoneer going forward. Stellantis is also opening a new EV facility, the first large-scale, domestic, electric-vehicle battery manufacturing facility in Canada controlled by Stellantis and LG Energy Solution (LGES) and the official name of its battery joint-venture company, NextStar Energy Inc.
