The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup is made up of six trims – Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve (4×4 only). The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 engine with variable valve timing (VVT) and electric start-stop (ESS) technology. This engine is able to generate 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Also available on the Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve is a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine, optimized with a multi-displacement system (MDS) and VVT. This engine is capable of generating 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
All powertrains come with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission transfers all that torque to the wheels. The V6 engine provides a fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, plus a towing capacity of 6200 pounds. The V8 engine has a fuel economy of 18/25 mpg city/highway and a towing capacity of 7200 pounds.
Able to come with a two-wheel drive or 4×4 drivetrain, 4×4 systems are of course only available on models with a 44x drivetrain. The classic Jeep Selec-Terrain system becomes a standard starting with the Limited trim. There are only two 4×4 systems this year, with the Quadra-Trac I 4WD system standard on the Laredo, Altitude, and Limited – and the Quadra-Trac II 4WD standard on the Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.
With the Trailhawk removed from the lineup and made exclusive to the Grand Cherokee 4xe, Jeep has decided to treat the consumers of the 2023 Grand Cherokee a little better. Standard features include heated mirrors with turn signals, automatic headlamps, LEDs practically everywhere, acoustic laminated front door, rear door, and windshield glass, and deep tint privacy glass. Mirrors with memory, Bi-function LED premium reflector headlamps, rain-sensitive windshield wipers, and a hands-free power liftgate. The Laredo rides on 17-inch wheels standard, with the Altitude jumping to 20-inch wheels, and back down to 18-inches for the Limited trim, back to 20-inches for the Overland and Summit, pushing it to 21-inch wheels on the Summit Reserve.
The standard upholstery for the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee is cloth, with leather-trimmed bucket seats immediately starting after the base. Carpl leather seated are standard on the Limited trim, with Nappa leather upholstery on the Overland and Summit, and Palermo leather on the Summit Reserve. The interior cabin is quite cozy this year, with 8-way power-adjustable driver seats as a standard, with heated front seats starting on the Altitude (optional for the Laredo), driver-seat memory and heated second-row seats starting with the Limited trim, and ventilated front seats starting on the Overland trim. 12-way power-adjustable driver seats are reserved for the Summit trims, with ventilated rear seats only on the Summit Reserve. A 60/40 split-folding rear bench is standard, along with a/c dual-zone temperature control, with 4-zone in the Summit trims (available in the Overland). Starting with the Overland, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof is standard, available on the Limited.
Uconnect 5 is still the standard on an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, and adds navigation on a 10.1-inch touchscreen starting with the Limited trim. Standard on all trims is a 4H LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, integrated voice command, and a six speaker sound system (premium on the Limited. SiriusXM with 360L starts on the Limited trim. Overland starts the new setup with a nine amplified speaker sound system with a subwoofer, and the Summit Reserve comes with a 19-speaker high-performance audio system, available on the Overland and Summit trims. Amazon Fire TV Built-in, seatback video screens, and a front passenger interactive display become available starting with the Limited trim.
Safety Features and Warranty
Standard features in the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee consist of an advanced multistage front airbag system with supplemental airbags all around the cabin, stability and traction control systems, an enhanced accident response system, and a LATCH-ready child seat anchor systems. Advanced features that come standard include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a ParkView rear backup camera, ParkSense rear park assist with stop, full-speed forward collision warning plus, lane-departure warning plus, blind spot and cross path detection, enhanced accident response system. A surround view camera system becomes available with the Limited trim, standard on the Summit and Summit Reserve trims.
All Jeep vehicles are covered by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, a 5-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for five years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through coverage for five years or 100,000 miles.
