Four Stellantis Brands Make Repeat Wins During Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Award

Car and Driver has been putting together its “Best of” lists, starting with the Car and Driver 10Best in January 2023. The Ram 1500 landed on the Car and Driver 10Best for the fifth year-in-a-row, and there’s no stopping this pickup truck when it comes to winning awards and accolades as prestigious as the Car and Driver 10Best. Speaking of prestigious car awards, four Stellantis brands recently also landed in the winner’s circle for the Car and Driver Editors’ Choice awards. Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Jeep® and Ram did their duty and won this honor in 2022 and repeat the same winners for 2023. Not only this, but the same models from each were named – what are the odds?
“Stellantis wins eight of Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice Awards, highlighting the company’s best products…Alfa Romeo is back this year with cars that tug at our enthusiast hearts, the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L’s combination of luxury and off-road ruggedness lands both models on the list, Chrysler’s thoughtfully practical and efficient Pacifica wins, and Ram’s full-size pickups that are ideal for work or for leisure take three more spots on our list.” – Tony Quiroga, Car and Driver editor-in-chief
Eight spots. Out of 400 models that Car and Driver tested rated, and ranked in one of 39 eligible market segments, eight models from Stellantis won. Car and Driver studies car segments ranging from subcompact crossovers to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and from high-performance sport-luxury sedans to pickup trucks. For ten straight years, the Ram 1500 has won the award for full-size pickup truck segment, along with two other segments. The vehicles chosen for the 2023 edition of the publication’s annual Editors’ Choice honors are deemed to be the best in their class at fulfilling their mission while also offering great value and a rewarding driving experience to consumers.
Sharing the spotlight with the Ram 1500, the Ram 1500 TRX also won honors for the Full-Size Pickup Truck class, marking the third consecutive year for this monster of a truck. When it comes to heavy-duty pickup trucks, look no further than the Ram HD lineup, capable of offering not only a larger towing capacity and payload, but pushing work trucks beyond just work with off-road capabilities and upgraded interiors for today’s modern truck driver. The Ram 2500/3500 have won this award for four years-in-a-row. The Ram Truck brand has a strong presence on the Editors’ Choice list.
Also making a repeat win this year is the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, both for the Mid-Size SUV segment. The Grand Cherokee has been a winning SUV for years, eventually spawning the Grand Cherokee L, adding a third row for the first time in the automaker’s history, but eventually giving rise to the luxury class Wagoneer. With the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe set for release, we expect to see some 4xe nameplates on the list next year.
Still owning the Minivan category is the Chrysler Pacifica. Named the best family car by multiple publications and organizations every year, winning more than 170 honors and industry accolades since its release in 2016, the Pacifica continues to upgrade itself with functionality, versatility, technology. These include standard and advanced safety features and the most advanced available all-wheel-drive system in its class. Its plug-in hybrid option, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, has also garnered much attention since it was released. Returning to the list with these brands was Alfa Romeo with the Quadrifoglio, a symbol of Italian performance since 1923, and winning two different segments – the Sports Sedan category with the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the Compact Performance SUV segment with the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
