Four Stellantis Brands Land on the 2022 Car and Driver Editor’s Choice Awards List
No matter what time of year, consumers are buying cars all over the nation. Every car segment has its merits, and the choices are plenty. How does an average consumer find the vehicle they’re looking for? With research, with time and data, and luckily, there are many organizations that will compile the data and reviews for us when we just don’t have the time. Organizations like Car and Driver, a well-known automotive publication since 1955, having kept up with the times and going digital to bring all the relative information to consumers at the press of a button. Recently, Car and Driver wrapped up its 2022 Editors’ Choice list, and four Stellantis brands made the cut – Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Ram, and Jeep®.

As we mentioned, Car and Driver has been around for some time, and with an online audience of 12-15 million unique visitors per month (ComScore), that’s a lot of potential consumers finding out the real deal on what’s hot and what’s not. Dedicated to delivering content and insights on into new, used, and pre-owned vehicles, Car and Driver is the place to go for comprehensive vehicle testing, research, and reviews. The 2022 Car and Driver Editors’ Choice list is the highlight of 2022 models, and only 116 vehicles made the list. This year, there were more than 400 models from over 37 market segments tested by publication editors.
Alfa Romeo made the list with its two usual award-winning models, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. The former is called the “halo” model, or icon model, for the Alfa Romeo sedan lineup. Joining Alfa Romeo is Chrysler with the Pacifica, the first minivan to be offered with both gasoline and hybrid powertrains. With plans for Stellantis to go electric, Chrysler is still boasting its Pacifica Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), able to deliver an all-electric range of more than 30 miles, with a mile-per-gallon equivalent (MPGe) of 80 miles in electric-only mode, culminating in a total range of more than 500 miles. The Chrysler Pacifica won the award this year, though, and that is all thanks to its consistent simplicity and safety, with features like class-exclusive Stow ‘n Go seating, a FamCAM interior camera, and next-generation Uconnect 5 connectivity for allthe techies in the family.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L made the 2022 Editors’ Choice list. We already know the two-row Grand Cherokee is a winner, always has been, and with the Grand Cherokee 4xe on the horizon, there will be more to love very soon. In addition to the lineup in 2021 was the first-ever Jeep SUV with three rows, able to maximize overall passenger comfort, along with more seating configurations and cargo space. Like the Chrysler Pacifica, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is just as family-oriented as it is stylish, with more than 110 advanced safety and security features as well as Segment-leading technologies. Some examples include a 10.25-inch front passenger screen, rear-seat monitoring camera system, and rear-seat entertainment displays with built-in Amazon Fire TV thanks to the partnership Stellantis has with Amazon.
Then there is the Ram 1500 and Ram Heavy Duty (HD) lineup. Made to last and for the heavy lifting, Ram Ram 1500 light-duty and Ram 2500/3500 heavy-duty pick-up trucks are repeat winners for the 2022 Editors’ Choice Awards list. With the benchmark for durability, technology, efficiency, performance and convenience offered in the 1500 and Ram Heavy Duty truck lineups, consumers can get the job done. The Ram HD offers a towing capacity of up to 37,090 pounds and a payload capacity of 7,680 pounds. These two were joined by the mighty 702-horsepower 2022 Ram 1500 TRX – the apex predator of pickup trucks.
