Ram Wraps up May with One More Award
May 2019 was sure a great month for the 2019 Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck. Award-after-award, it seemed like every automotive association wanted a piece of the action. Big names like the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) named the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel as the Most-Capable Off-Road Truck, and just before the end of May, the 2019 Ram 1500 also won the “Official Winter Truck of New England” by the New England Motor Press Association. One win snuck past, and it’s another reminder that the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 was honored with overall “Best Family Car” and “Best Family Pickup Truck” awards by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA). This next win comes from Edmunds.
Edmunds Announce 2019 Best Family Truck Award Winner
Does the name sound familiar? It should – Edmunds is right up there with Kelley Blue Book when it comes to automotive news and reviews. Not every truck can make the cut, and when Edmunds started the search for the “2019 Best Family Truck”, Edmunds’ experts tested 300 vehicles with a 115-mile real-world test loop made up of city streets, freeways, and winding canyons. Typical truck and off-road stuff – TAWA did the same thing when testing for the most-capable off-road truck, putting vehicles through a series of challenges, one of which included a mud-filled obstacle course designed to showcase a truck’s off-road capability. Edmunds tested and rated trucks on 30-plus scores covering performance, comfort, interior, technology, utility, and value.
“A truck as a family car makes sense when you drive the Ram 1500 – especially if your family is outdoorsy and has lots of toys…With reclining rear seats, class-leading legroom and an exclusive coil-spring rear suspension, the Ram 1500 outclasses many traditional SUVs in comfort and luxury.” – Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief at Edmunds.
We know we’ve been talking plenty about the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck, with its class-leading features luxury, efficiency, capability, and innovation, especially with the all-new eTorque mild hybrid system available in both V6 and V8 powertrain configurations for a torque boost of 90 lb-ft and 130 lb-ft of torque, respectively. That doesn’t mean the Ram 1500 is the only priced truck of the Ram brand lineup, though. Recently, Ram Trucks started a new marketing campaign highlighting the Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup truck lineup, and the Ram HD trucks played a role in the 2019 Kentucky Derby, and commemorated 145 years of being the official partner of the Kentucky Derby with a 2019 Special-edition Kentucky Derby 2019 Heavy Duty Pickup Truck, available on the 2500 or 3500 Limited trim, with the choice of a Cummins 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel I-6 or 6.4-liter HEMI® V8; 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain; Mega Cab or Crew Cab; single rear wheel or dual rear wheel; with 6-ft.-4-in. or 8-ft. bed lengths.
