2019 Ram 1500 Wins Official Winter Truck of New England

May 31st, 2019 by

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have really just been knocking it out of the park in 2019. If it isn’t one of their prized models winning another award every week, like the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel being named the Most-Capable Off-Road Truck by the Texas Motor Press Association (TAWA), it’s their merger proposal with Renault. Well, we’d be lying if we weren’t here to talk about another award, and again for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. This light-duty pickup truck won the Official Winter Truck of New England’ by the New England Motor Press Association.

During that harsh March 2019 Winter that we were feeling even down here in South Florida, over 50 members of the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) gathered for their annual Winter Vehicle voting at NEMPA headquarters in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Founded in 1987, NEMPA has been responsible for coordinating professional media coverage of the auto industry in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, whose 14.5 million citizens have unique demographics and automotive preferences depending on a variety of variables. When it came down to it, NEMPA chose the 2019 Ram 1500 for its ability to meet specific needs of New England drivers during winter.

“The 2019 Ram rides like a car, works like a truck and shows winter who is boss,” – John Paul, President of the New England Motor Press Association.

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 really does offer consumers a lot, when it comes to power with the available legendary 5.7-liter V8 HEMI that delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, and when it comes to technology, like Uconnect 4 on a 12-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and an available 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. If we’re being technical, it was the new 2019 Ram 1500 North Edition that helped with this win though. The North Edition of the 2019 Ram 1500 comes with special edition equipment that helps drivers tackle more challenging seasonal conditions. These include:

Three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) severe snow service-rated on/off-road Falken LT tires

4×4 transfer case with 4×4 Auto, 4×4 High and 4×4 Low settings

       One-inch factory lift

       Electric-locking rear axle

       Tow hooks

       Engine block heater

       Heated seats and steering wheel

       Remote start

Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen with SiriusXM Travel Link Weather

Mopar all-weather floor mats to contain slush and snow

12-way power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar

       Heated, folding mirrors

Front and rear Park Sense audible/visual warning system

Body-color bumpers, grille, mirrors, door handles, and rear fender “4×4” decal

Based on the 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn trim, the North Edition can be configured with a Crew Cab, 4×4 drivetrain, either powertrain, and any bed the Crew Cab can come with. Consumers also have the choice of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine equipped with a mild-hybrid eTorque system or the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with or without eTorque. We wonder how well the 2020 Ram 1500 will fare with all this press the 2019 model year gets.
