2019 Ram 1500 Rebel is the Most-Capable Off-Road Truck

It’s always Texas. In Texas, they love pickup trucks. Texans especially love the new 2019 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram HD pickup trucks. That’s why the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), one of the most reputable automotive press organizations in the industry, is always talking about them. During the 2019 Texas Truck Rodeo by TAWA, the 2019 Ram 1500 blew the competition away. TAWA isn’t the only Texas organization recognizing the 2019 Ram 1500. Honoring the performance of the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel, the Texas Motor Press Association has named it the “Texas Off-road Truck of the Year”.

Founded on the philosophy of “for journalists, by journalists,”, like the jeans company, Texas Motor Press Association (TxMPA) tackles various facets of the automotive industry and evaluates various motorized vehicles, equipment, parts, and accessories. A lot of their research also covers evaluating and testing vehicles for public safety. So of course, when it comes to testing off-road vehicles, TxMPA walks up to bat and take the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel for a test drive.

The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel is possibly the most off-road capable truck currently on the market. When going off-road with the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel, consumers get an upgrade with new 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires driven by an electronic-locking rear differential, coil spring suspension, a one-inch factory lift, and designed Bilstein shocks. Ram’s active-level four-corner air suspension is an available add-on for added performance.

During the inaugural Texas Off-road Invitational held in Huntsville, Texas, the Ram 1500 Rebel was driven over a multi-day series of challenges, along with the rest of the competition of pickup trucks, SUVs and crossover vehicles. A mud-filled obstacle course designed to showcase off-road capability and technology was especially set up to remove the weak from the strong during this event.

“The half-ton off-road segment is a competitive arena with a number of players and the 2019 Ram Rebel was up to the challenge…Although well-mannered for on-road, the Rebel also offers great capability, encourages spirited off-road driving and is a great-looking pickup that thrilled the Texas Motor Press Association jurors.” – Mike Herzing, President of TxMPA.

Able to drop the transfer case into 4WD Low, the 2019 Ram Rebel can work through the most demanding terrain while keeping the driver in control. If opting in for 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, consumers are looking at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque for even better off-road capability. If looking to also save on fuel economy, the Hemi V8 can come with eTorque for added additional 130 pound-feet of torque and a fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. That’s not much, but it’s a difference from the 15/22 mpg city/highway offered when choosing to get the Hemi V8 without eTorque. The eTorque system even landed the 2019 Ram 1500 title of Best-in-Class V8 towing with 12,750 pounds, more than 1000 pounds than the V8 without eTorque. Why even bother with anything else?

As America’s most-awarded light-duty pickup truck, the 2019 Ram 1500 is the way to go, especially when looking for a truck that can also go off-road. Check out the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel at Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram today.
