Jeep has been releasing special edition vehicles and new accessories to add capability to certain models with the Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) Catalog by Jeep and Mopar. Always looking for ways to offer Jeepers more of an adventurous lifestyle, Jeep also partnered with onX Offroad this year, a benefit available through its Jeep Wave Program. A few months ago over the summer, Jeep released the Xtreme Recon Package for the Wrangler, a package that added more off-road capability to the already capable model. The package was so popular, Jeep added a special variant to the lineup and revealed it at the 2021 Detroit 4Fest over the weekend. The new addition is the 2022 Wrangler Willys With Xtreme Recon Package.

“The new Jeep Wrangler Willys with Xtreme Recon Package gives our passionate customers another great option for straight-from-the-factory 35-inch tires…Named after the original Jeep utility vehicle, the Willys holds special meaning to the Jeep brand, and we’re excited to enhance the new Wrangler Willys with 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires.” – Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America

The starting MSRP for the 2022 Wrangler Willys with the Xtreme Recon 35-inch tire package is $39,435 (plus destination fee). Included with this package are 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, 17-inch by 8-inch beadlock capable wheels, 4.56:1 axle ratio, a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift with uniquely tuned shocks, swing gate reinforcement, and anti-lock four-wheel-disc performance brakes. For style, the Wrangler Willys comes with a standard black grille, matte black “Jeep” badge, black “Trail Rated” badge, “4-Wheel Drive” swing gate decal, and “Willys” hood decal.

With the added capability of the Xtreme Recon Package, the Wrangler Willys delivers best-in-class approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance, and water fording capability. The Jeep Wrangler Willys with Xtreme Recon has an approach angle of 47.4 degrees, breakover angle of 26.7 degrees, a departure angle of 40.4 degrees, a ground clearance of 12.9 inches, and a water fording capability of 33.6 inches. Under the hood of the Jeep Wrangler Willys is a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 Engine with eTorque, able to generate 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Orders for the Xtreme Recon Package on the Jeep Wrangler Willys will begin in October 2021 with Production at the Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Plant starting in December. The Xtreme Package is the same for the original Wrangler and the Wrangler Willys model, but for those looking for real extreme off-roading, the Wrangler Rubicon comes with a new 4.88:1 axle ratio and a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio. This wasn’t originally available but was set to be made available in late 2021, so be on the lookout for that.

In 2020, Jeep had an anniversary of 80 years in the business. Because things were a little hectic last year, there wasn’t a lot of time for celebration and good times. So, the off-road automaker took 2021 as a chance to celebrate 80 years of legendary heritage, capability, craftsmanship, and versatility. As mentioned above, Jeep also has what it likes to call the Jeep Wave Program, a premium owner loyalty and customer care program that all Jeep owners can be a part of. Eligible with all models in the lineup, benefits and exclusive perks like dedicated 24/7 support, these are just some of the pluses of being a Jeep owner.
