Jeep Releases Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package

June 28th, 2021 by

The Jeep® Wrangler will always be the off-road vehicle people think of when they think of the Jeep brand. Many probably think of it when they hear the word “off-road”. Trail Rated, and the original Jeep, the Wrangler is always pushing the envelope for something new or better. The Jeep Wrangler JL was a huge victory, the new generation the off-road SUV. When the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck came out, based off of the Wrangler, that was a whole new ball game. Sticking to its original guns, Jeep takes 4×4 capability to new levels with the new Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package. It’s all for the brand’s 80th Anniversary.

Yes, the off-road automaker has been in the business for 80 years, and Jeep has been celebrating since last year, starting the celebration early by releasing an 80th Anniversary Special-Edition Model of every model in the lineup. Jeep has also expanded the Jeep Wave Program recently with a partnership with onX Offroad for more off-road adventure. Built for off-roaders, by off-roaders, the app makes it easy to find one of 550,000 trails, as well as 500,000 recreation points, with its GPS mapping system. Plan the next camping trip, go a little glamping with some after-market accessories, and take the Jeep Wrangler out for a bumpy ride.

“For the first time ever, the new Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package delivers 35-inch tires straight from the factory…We have been listening to and watching our customers make this one of the most popular modifications to their Wranglers, and now we will deliver this exciting new package, along with an industry-first 100:1 crawl ratio, off the showroom floor at our Jeep dealerships.” – Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America

Now with the Xtreme Recon Package, the Wrangler can handle more difficult excursions. The new Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package adds 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, 17-inch by 8-inch beadlock capable wheels, adds more capability with a 4.56:1 axle ratio and a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift. Together, it adds up to the Best-in-class approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance and water fording capability of any Jeep and off-road vehicle. With the Xtreme Recon Package equipped, the Jeep Wrangler has an approach angle of 47.4 degrees, a breakover angle of 26.7 degrees, departure angle of 40.4 degrees, and a ground clearance of 12.9 inches. For crossing rivers to the next camping spot, the Wrangler can handle up to 33.6 inches of water, but it’s best to get some water fording mods unless you want to go for a swim. The Wrangler Rubicon gets even better with a new 4.88:1 axle ratio and a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio – available later in 2021.

Ready to get your hands on one of these beauts? The Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon package is available on both the Wrangler Rubicon 4-door and Wrangler Rubicon 392 models. Production for Wrangler units with this off-road package starts in August, but consumers can place their orders now.
