The 2019 Ram 1500 light duty pickup truck is sure turning heads and making a name for itself. Gone are the days of this truck just being a work truck. This is an off-road warrior, a classic truck of the old west, and a mash up of luxury and capability. The Laramie Longhorn trim was fancy enough, and it’s a good idea of how far the Ram 1500 has come. Even without the special Longhorn variant, just the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie with a Crew Cab is one of the best options for the new pickup truck.

Is This Truck a Dream?

Consumers may ask themselves that when taking the new 2019 Ram 1500 for a ride. The Laramie is a luxury pickup, outfitted with full leather upholstery, chromed-metal fixtures, and a huge bench seat in the second row that can sit up to three passengers. For creature comforts, all of the seats in the Laramie trim come heated for the cool nights, but only the driver and front passenger may enjoy ventilated seating on these hot summer days. That’s because the second row is also a 40/20/40 fold-down bench seat that can be altered to make room for a cargo not kept in the pickup bed. It’s a trade-off of comfort for convenience.

Other convenient features are power adjusting front seats with lumbar adjustment for back support – always nice. There’s also plenty of storage space in and around the pickup truck, as mentioned in our “Must-Have Features on the New 2019 Ram 1500” article, such as the in-floor compartments (optional) and the RamBox Cargo Management System that can be implemented into the sides of the truck bed (optional add-on). Then there’s also the entertainment that keeps everybody happy.

Able to come with an optional 12-inch touchscreen (optional) or just the usual 8.4-inch touchscreen (standard). Unless going with the Tradesman or Big Horn/Lone Star trims, then the standard infotainment system on any trim will be Uconnect 4. The Laramie trim comes standard with Uconnect 4, but can upgrade to Uconnect 4C for better smartphone integration. It’s like having your phone installed on the center console.

There’s Still Plenty of Power

There are many practical reasons to own a light duty pickup truck, and one of those is power. If unswayed by creature comforts and high-tech amenities, then perhaps a truck that is as powerful as it is convenient is more what you’re looking for. Under the hood is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, able to generate 410 lb-ft of torque for a max towing capacity of 11,610 pounds. This powertrain is optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) technology and a multi-displacement system (MDS) to improve vehicle performance and fuel economy. If looking for more towing power, the Laramie can opt-in for the same powertrain setup with eTorque added, the new mild-hybrid system from FCA that boosts the torque on the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie up to 510 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds.

The sole issue consumers may find is parking with the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. It’s a bit long and not made for city-folk. As the Laramie Longhorn suggests, Laramie trims are made for those with plenty of space to drive and park. Looking for your own 2019 Ram 1500? You can find yours at Aventura CJDR.
