When it comes to the 2019 Ram 1500, this light duty pickup truck has been improved so much, there are absolutely some features worth checking out. The 2019 Ram 1500 has been available for some time now, and many consumers haven’t done the research to find out what’s new and what this new pickup truck can offer. From storage options to entertainment, nearly everything about the Ram 1500 is new. Is it a work truck? An off-road vehicle? Or a family car – yes, the 2019 Ram 1500 won an award for a family car. Read about some amazing options below.

Storage Options

Before you ask, yes, the famous RamBox Cargo Management System has returned, and it is better than ever. Now featuring a 115-volt outlet, and relocated overhead lighting for improved illumination, it’s still weatherproof, lockable, and designed with drainable storage bins built into the bed rails (raised by 1.5 inches). When it comes to the interior, the center console has received a complete makeover to make space for the new available 12-inch touchscreen, more on that later, and more storage. The possibilities are endless.

The 2019 Ram 1500 light duty pickup truck has more twelve different storage combinations in the center console of the cabin alone. A wider docking area is now available for optional wireless charging of a small tablet or smartphone, a deep storage tub is designed for a 15-inch laptop, an additional lined compartment can be found under the center armrest, and another tablet holder is situated for rear passengers behind the two cup holders. On the high-tier trims of the new Ram 1500, the glove box can slide upwards to reveal a hidden cubby in the dashboard and two RamBins can be found in-floor for more secretive cargo storage. Finally, folding up the rear bench seat reveals additional under-seat compartments. It’s like Fort Knox in here.

If this 2019 Ram 1500 is serving you as a work truck, then definitely get an engine setup with eTorque. The standard powertrain setup for various trims is a 3.6-liter V6 engine optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) technology and the mild-hybrid eTorque system. Remember, although the V6 is already able to generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, with the eTorque system, it can generate an additional 90 lb-ft of torque. Later into the model year, maybe as late as 2019, the powerful 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine will be available with eTorque, able to generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, with an additional 120 lb-ft of torque from the eTorque. If not able to wait, the original 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with VVT and a multi-displacement system to improve fuel economy is available.

The eTorque system adds other great features to the powertrain. Able to act much like a hybrid system, eTorque offers the engine functions such as auto stop/start, electric power assist, extended fuel shut-off, transmission shift management, intelligent battery charging, and regenerative braking. When it comes to the torque generated, durability and capability for the 2019 Ram 1500 have been increased. Even though its 225 pounds lighter, the 2019 Ram 1500 is said to be able to tow up to 12,750 pounds and carry a payload of 2,300 pounds.

Standard, the new 2019 Ram 1500 comes with Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch display and has a six-speaker system. Select trims have the option to upgrade to Uconnect 4 on an 8.4-inch touchscreen display or Uconnect 4C with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Google Android Auto capabilities. Some packages also add a nine-speaker sound system with a subwoofer. The real joy though comes with the new available, class-exclusive 12-inch touchscreen display.

Like the usual Uconnect code, this Uconnect system with the 12-inch touchscreen is called Uconnect 12.0, but it’s basically Uconnect 4C with navigation plus new configurations and features. The 2019 Ram 1500 is the first vehicle to offer the SiriusXM next-generation 360L experience, a new platform from SiriusXM with more variety, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand streaming audio. The 12-inch touchscreen is also reconfigurable for easy personalization. Thanks to a new split-screen feature, consumers can operate two different applications, such as Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto) and the a/c system, or display navigation across the entire 12-inch touchscreen.
