Practical Reasons To Own a Light-Duty Pickup
Trucks have hardly ever been known for more than being a work truck. They can carry heavy loads, they get the job done, and more than likely someone has seen a truck towing a large boat or something else behind it. With time however, over the last decade or so, trucks have begun to taken on a new meaning. Now, trucks can come built with crew cabs that can seat up to six people, interiors have become much nicer, and the technology – wow, did that get an upgrade. The most upgraded truck of them all is the 2019 Ram 1500, and it’s definitely more than just a work truck.
Just because the 2019 Ram 1500 is more than a work truck doesn’t mean consumers won’t buy a truck specifically for tough jobs. Hauling cargo and carrying payloads are just some of the many practical reasons for getting the Ram 1500, now in its fifth generation and better than ever. Able to be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) for high performance and the mild-hybrid eTorque system for a boost of 90 lb-ft of torque to its already 269 lb-ft of torque, that little boost makes towing a maximum capacity of 11,540 pounds and a payload of 1930 pounds* easy.
Looking for a little more chutzpah? A 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine optimized with VVT and a Multi-Displacement System (MDS) for fuel efficiency is an option on most trims, standard on the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trims. All trims can opt-in for the same engine with eTorque for an extra 130 lb-ft of torque in addition to its 410 lb-ft of torque for a total of 530 lb-ft of torque. That brings the maximum towing capacity up to 12,750 pounds – Oh, mama!
WardsAuto named the 2019 Ram 1500 on their “Best Interiors List”, and the premium materials used in the more high-end trims is just the start. Just look at some of these must-have features on the new 2019 Ram 1500. Aside from being able to seat up to six passengers, the storage options on the 2019 Ram 1500 are phenomenal.
Docking areas for tablets, storage bins for laptops and portable devices, hidden cargo compartments for keeping precious items safe – the list goes on. If going out to party, or maybe even camping, the new and improved RamBox Cargo Management System returned with the new generation 2019 Ram 1500, still weatherproof, lockable, and designed with drainable storage bins to act as a cooler for keeping a couple of brewskis, or the day’s catch, cool and fresh.
The 2019 Ram 1500 also caught the eye of U.S. News & World Report when they named the light duty pickup truck on their list of “Most High-Tech Features for the Money.” We’re used to seeing Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch display as the standard for the Ram 1500 truck, but what kind of next-generation truck would the 2019 Ram 1500 be without the ability to also feature the next-generation Uconnect 4, optional or standard on all trims after the Tradesman. If able to opt-in for Uconnect 4C, consumers can plug their smartphone in via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and literally access their smartphones through the touchscreen – how cool is that?
A class-exclusive feature is also available on the new 2019 Ram 1500. Never before seen in a pickup truck is an available 12-inch touchscreen, powered by Uconnect 4C with navigation capabilities. The 2019 Ram 1500 is also the first vehicle to feature the next-generation SiriusXM platform, SiriusXM 360L, now with more variety, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand streaming audio.
Is the new Ram 1500 a work truck? Yeah, it’s powerful. But there are a lot of practical reasons for getting the next-generation 2019 Ram 1500, and getting a tough job done is just one of them. Find yours at Aventura CJDR.
