2020 Ram Power Wagon Spotted
The Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 make up some of the beastly pickup trucks in the Ram lineup, and the Ram 2500 is one three-quarter-ton pickup that’s getting attention as of late. Spy shots and specs have been leaking about the 2020 Ram 2500/HD truck for some time now, and the 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is what has most readers scouring through the internet. Those unfamiliar with the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, whether due to its size (made for heavy lifting and commercial business), or more familiar with the Ram 1500, may be able to relate more when reading about the Ram 1500 Rebel and the Ram Power Wagon. Both are very capable Ram Trucks, and the latter seems to be taking styling cues from the popular Rebel.
Previous spy shots have given us a glimpse or two of the next-generation of heavy-duty Ram pickup trucks, and we’re pretty intrigued so far. The Ram 2500 is starting to shape up to look like its 1500 variants, starting with the new grille that replaces the original Ram crosshair we’ve known for so long, and new headlights with bracket-shaped LED running lights on the top and bottom give the front fascia a curvaceous aesthetic. Some would even say the new Ram 2500 Power Wagon has style that is reminiscent of the Ram 1500 Rebel, but has put its own hardcore spin on it to match the ruggedness of the 2500 beast.
Several test mules were spotted 80 miles northwest of the brand’s Chelsea Proving Grounds, the main testing facility for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicles. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because the FCA recently invested $30 million into revamping the Chelsea Proving Grounds into an autonomous car testing facility. One of the test Ram 2500 vehicles was a beautiful sight to behold – a large four-door cab, tall ride height, long bed – check it out above. Even in a little camoflauge, the 2020 Ram 2500 commands attention.
Some may be curious as to why Ram left the 2500 out of the facility, uncovered and bare? There is talk of the next-gen 2020 Ram Power Wagon making an appearance at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, since Ram made use of the 2018 Detroit Auto Show to debut the 2019 Ram 1500. Or maybe FCA wanted us to see the monochromatic appearance of the new truck, highlighted with subtle fender guards, two-tone wheels, knobby tires, and tubular running boards.
There is no news on the powertrain, but speculation is the same. Either the existing 5.7-liter V8, 6.4-liter V8, and 6.7-liter Cummins-sourced inline-six turbo diesel will be available to power this heavy-duty pickup truck. We can’t really see anything other than the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, capable of generating 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, fit for the 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon.
