What We Know So Far About the Jeep Wagoneer S

Jeep® has been moving steadfastly towards a more electrified lineup since the initial release of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Dedicated to making a 4xe version of every model, the Grand Cherokee 4xe eventually followed. Introduced for the luxury car segment, the Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer were released.  Both have won many awards, and some new changes are coming to the 2024 Wagoneer lineup. Most notable among them is the announcement of the first all-electric Jeep model to actually be a Wagoneer. If Jeep is going to go all-electric, it may as well also make it the most luxurious electric SUV possible. It’s called the Wagoneer S.

Like most news of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) in the auto industry, a lot of speculation has already made its way across the internet. One reason for this is that not a whole lot about the all-new all-electric Wagoneer hasn’t really surfaced. Past a contest during the North American International Auto Show that gave consumers the chance to name the Wagoneer, it would seem that so far, all we have to go on is the nameplate “Wagoneer S”. All we were told was the Wagoneer S would feature a sleek, aerodynamic design to enhance its performance and capability for high towing and payload capacities and all-terrain management. The front fascia would be equipped with a signature LED-lit grille now that a gasoline engine is no longer a part of the equation.

Earlier this year, we got another small peek at the all-new, all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S. It still isn’t much to go on, but the Wagoneer S will be built on the all-new, highly flexible, BEV-native STLA-Large platform. Built for upcoming D- and E-Segment BEVs, this is the same platform used for the electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack. The brand has yet to release on any specs for the powertrain, but we did get some more details about the interior.

Integrating state-of-the-art technology and artisan details, the interior of the new Jeep Wagoneer S will be trimmed with premium materials and design a high-class luxury battery-electric SUV demands. Featuring a tailored driver control center, consumers can personalize their cabin with a unique Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain toggle and dynamic, color-selectable ambient lighting. A standard feature that embraces Jeep adventure like no other is a dual-pane panoramic sunroof for that open air feeling, even in a BEV. For listening to tunes, Jeep celebrates the Wagoneer S the only way it knows how – with an available segment-exclusive, 19-speaker, premium flagship McIntosh audio system.

For now, that’s all we know. First revealed in January 2024, more news about the all-new Jeep Wagoneer S will be posted soon, and we’re eagerly awaiting to hear about the specs. We expect it to be wildly different from the latest BEV to hit the market, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV. Although both are made for performance, the electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is more about speed, whereas an electric Jeep should be focused on off-road capability. If anything, we want to see some high numbers for the torque, especially after the Stellantis PR claimed the Jeep Wagoneer S boasts “impressive performance numbers”.
