In December 2023, Dodge teased the release of the Charger Daytona SRT BEV with a new Christmas ad to spread some holiday cheer. That was all we really heard about it, but out of nowhere, Dodge released some specs for the upcoming all-new, all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack. Able to deliver 670 horsepower, this battery-electric vehicle (BEV) is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds. That’s some real power! Before we get to see the Daytona, we’re getting the brand’s first multi-energy muscle car: the all-new Dodge Charger.

“The electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers Charger Hellcat Redeye levels of performance and announces its presence through the world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, while Hurricane engine-powered Dodge Charger SIXPACK models will give the Brotherhood of Muscle a gas option that produces better horsepower and torque numbers than the outgoing 5.7- and 6.4-liter HEMI engines…The next generation of Dodge muscle has arrived.” – Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis

Jeez, the automaker just can’t let it go, can it? Dodge has been saying it’s going electric with eMuscle for years now, but we saw how quickly that statement died when the Dodge Hornet was first released as an all-gasoline model. Now, it’s the new generation of the Dodge Charger, able to be powered by two different all-gasoline options. The first of these multi-energy powertrain options is a 420-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK Standard Output (S.O.) fueled by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane S.O. engine, followed by the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK High Output (H.O.) powered by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane H.O. engine. Scheduled to be released in 2025, and production starting mid-2024, we expect to see the all-gasoline Dodge Charger released alongside the Charger Daytona.

It feels like the automaker is shooting themselves in the foot with this one. On the one hand, in case muscle car enthusiasts aren’t quick to jump on the all-electric bandwagon, Dodge can still do well in sales with yet another all-gasoline model. On the other hand, who is going to pay any attention to the Charger Daytona SRT BEV when they can get an all-gasoline Dodge Charger? So much for those “Last Call” models. The next-gen Charger is still a four-door model, but the Charger Daytona SRT is a two-door model to relive its initial release as a true muscle car. The new generation of the Dodge Charger, gasoline and BEV, will also be the first vehicles to debut the STLA Large platform.

Turning our attention back to the electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona model, two trims have already been confirmed – the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack and 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T (able to generate 496 horsepower). Yeah, no Dodge muscle car is complete without the R/T, amirite? Also, all-wheel drive (AWD) is standard to deliver the best performance possible. Powered by a 400V propulsion system that brings back supercharged V8 performance, muscle car enthusiasts who go green won’t be disappointed by the dual electric drive module (EDM), generating 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 300 lb.-ft. of torque in the front and rear of the vehicle.

Of course, Dodge is pulling out all the stops for its first-ever BEV. This includes adding the Dodge Power Shot feature to offer an incremental 40 horsepower for 15 seconds with a 15-second cooldown we first saw in the Dodge Hornet. We’re also getting massive 16-inch Brembo High-performance Brakes, a new Brake by Wire intelligent braking system that blends the regeneration of hybrid vehicles and standard foundation braking of gasoline cars, available 20-inch wheels, multi-link front suspension, Dual-valve Semi-active Suspension for a smoother ride over rough roads, several Drive Modes (Auto, Eco, Sport, Wet/Snow and Track, and Drag), and of course, Race Options for taking the Charger Daytona SRT to the racetrack and really see what it can do!

The exterior of the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona will feature patent-pending front R-Wing, exclusive to Charger Daytona models, a front pass-through area for more aerodynamic performance, and the world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust. A Fratzonic text logo will also finally appear in the rear, along with red “ring of fire” LED rear tail lamps to match the full-width front LED headlights – complete with the Dodge logo laser-etched into the headlamps. Although the 20-inch wheels are available, 18-by-8-inch Tech Silver wheels will be the standard for the Daytona R/T trim, followed by 20-by-11-inch Satin Carbon wheels on the Daytona Scat Pack. There’s also the option for a full-length glass roof.

Inside, the new Dodge Charger comes with a new cockpit, featuring a free-standing, wide-format 10.25-inch (standard) or a 16-inch cluster screen, plus a 12.3-inch center display. New Attitude Adjustment interior lighting offers consumers additional personalization with 64 colors to enhance the mood on the road. A heated flat top/flat bottom steering wheel greets the driver, complete with paddle shifters to manage regenerative braking and a PowerShot button. We’re pretty sure the transmission will be automatic, but the all-new, modern “pistol-grip” may give an inkling of manual transmission for the next-gen all-gasoline Charger model. Seating trim is a combination of cloth and leatherette, but heated Black Nappa leather and Demonic Red Nappa leather seats are available.

There will be some add-on packages consumers can opt-in for to add more to their all-new Dodge Charger, including Plus Group, Blacktop Package, Track Package, Carbon & Suede Package, and the Sun & Sound Package. For our music lovers, an Alpine nine-speaker, 506-watt stereo with subwoofer comes standard in the Daytona Scat Pack and R/T trims. A premium 18-speaker, 914-watt Alpine system with subwoofer is also available. Of course, Uconnect 5 will be the standard infotainment system with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and Dodge Connected Services.

Wow, that’s a lot to digest. If you want to get behind the wheel of the next-gen Dodge Charger or the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV, be sure to follow along with us on Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram social media.
