Stellantis at the 2022 NYIAS

April 15th, 2022 by

The 2022 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is going on this week, from April 15 to the 24, but you can always find news before the doors officially open when following our social media accounts. Stellantis has also set up a “virtual auto show” of their own to share information about the newest cars and trucks during the 2022 NYIAS. Not everyone can make it to the NYIAS, but whether exploring it through a virtual world or reading about it online, we have a few things to share about Chrysler and Jeep. Camp Jeep definitely returned, and the all-electric Chrysler Airflow Concept returned to the stage once more.

Virtual Auto Show

If you go to the interactive website at, you’ll be able to check out the virtual auto show the automotive group put together to give consumers a 3D experience of the full lineup of 2022 vehicles, including the 2022 Grand Wagoneer, 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid. There will also be a sweepstakes viewers can enter for a chance to win a credit of up to $100,000 toward the purchase of a new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, or Fiat vehicle. Now, onto the good stuff!

For anyone that might not know or have forgotten, the Chrysler unveiled its all-electric Airflow Concept at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Said to be released by 2028, this vehicle seems to fall in line with the automotive group’s new business strategy, Dare Forward 2030. Touting Level 3 autonomy that allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel and their eyes off the road temporarily, this will also be the first vehicle to employ the STLA Brain, a fully Over-the-Air (OTA) capable platform; the STLA SmartCockpit, that gives the vehicle occupants the ability to create a customizable living space, bringing their digital life with them on the road from within the cabin of the vehicle; and STLA AutoDrive that offers Level 2, Level 2+ and Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities. Once the vehicle becomes fully autonomous, the STLA Brain can simply download the updates, and consumers can enjoy hands-free driving and socializing with occupants face-to-face.

“The Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept, the latest version of our all-electric concept, represents the many possibilities on our brand’s road to an all-electric future…This new persona of the Airflow highlights the flexibility of the Chrysler brand’s future design direction and our ability to create personalities reflective of our diverse customers. As our brand evolves to offer a full battery-electric vehicle portfolio, we are completely rethinking and reinventing the customer experience. Project Ingenuity is an initiative in which we collaborate with customers on our future innovations and services, offering uniquely personalized and delightful customer experiences throughout the purchase, service and ownership journey.” – Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO – Stellantis

At the 2022 NYIAS, Chrysler illustrated the potential design expressions for the potential vehicle with the Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept. Featuring a Galaxy Black exterior body color with Cyprus Copper accents on the exterior and inside the cabin, these accents highlight the panoramic glass roof and 22-inch wheels. This isn’t your old-school minivan. Modern and spacious with an Ice Grey interior, the cabin feels like a first-class lounge that will only become a larger part of the concept if this vehicle goes into production with full autonomy.

Jeep returned with to the NYIAS with a fan favorite – Camp Jeep. With consumers able to experience all the capabilities of a Jeep, auto show goers can ride along with a product specialist in a Wrangler Rubicon 4xe and Rubicon 392, all-new Grand Cherokee 4xe, Jeep Gladiator Mojave and Rubicon, or the new Grand Cherokee L. The trail consists of a 5-foot staircase to test traction and ground clearance, a 25-degree uneven plane that shows the vehicle’s ability to keep moving even if one wheel isn’t able to make contact with the surface, and of course, the new 28-foot Mountain climb. You can read more about Camp Jeep from one of our own writers that made it to the 2022 Chicago Auto Show for a more hands-on review.

Also making an appearance at the 2022 NYIAS, Jeep debuted the Grand Cherokee High Altitude 4xe with a new Hydro Blue paint job. The package and appearance are currently exclusive to the new Grand Cherokee 4xe, adding premium 21-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, Gloss Black accents and badging, roof rails and a unique seven-slot grille. Trims include the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. The High Altitude Package is also only available on the Summit and Summer Reserve 4xe models, adding an additional $1,495 on Summit and $995 on Summit Reserve to the starting MSRP (not yet released). Later in 2022, the package and new Hydro Blue exterior paint color will be made available to the Grand Cherokee L Summit and Summit Reserve models in the second half of 2022.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe debuted earlier this year, so we’ve been waiting to hear more. Able to 25 miles of all-electric range with a 56-miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe). This is thanks to the Grand Cherokee 4xe propulsion system. A combination of two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack, and 2.0-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. Tied to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, consumer can enjoy the drive of a plug-in hybrid that’s smooth and has amazing range.

Inside, the Summit trim comes with Nappa leather seats with quilted seat bolsters and perforated seat inserts on all three rows, and Absolute Oak wood and leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, Berber floor mats, and front-row seats with power 16-way adjustable position with memory and lumbar  – fancy stuff. The Summit Reserve adds on premium hand-wrapped, quilted Palermo leather, ventilated front and second-row seats, plus memory and massage front seats. Wow, maybe that is the fancy one of the bunch.

We’re looking forward to its release, and if you are too, it’s like we said. You can learn about new vehicles and when they’re available when you follow us on Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on social media.
