Ram Announces New Merchant Fleet Agreement to Buy 12,500 Ram ProMaster Electric Vans

The auto industry is changing drastically in the next few years. Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), purpose-built vehicles (BEVs), hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and even autonomous vehicles will one day be the only thing you can find on the street. Even commercial brands and businesses are getting on the BEV truck train, testing in all parts of the world. Ever since we heard about Amazon and the Ram Truck brand working together, it wasn’t a huge surprise with the current STLA SmartCockpit concept with Amazon services. What was a surprise was Amazon entering into a long-term agreement with Stellantis to change up delivery services and put thousands of all-electric ProMaster vans on the road every year in America.
“At Ram, we are laser-focused on offering our customers electrified solutions with disruptive, leading-edge, advanced technology that meets real-world demands, and we are thrilled Merchants Fleet recognizes our all-new ProMaster EV will do exactly that…Our all-new ProMaster EV is Ram’s first EV offering in North America and an integral step in our electrification journey that will offer more efficient options to all of our customers.” – Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis
Debuting later this year (2023), the all-new Ram ProMaster electric van is celebrating its arrival with another large partner. Merchants Fleet, North America’s fastest growing fleet management company, will become a key commercial customer of the electric Ram ProMaster with a purchase of 12,500 Ram ProMaster EVs over several years. With Amazon also buying thousands of Ram ProMaster EVs, this electric commercial truck is going to be very popular very fast. The first fully electric van offered in North America from Stellantis and the Ram brand, it’s also making history in the industry.
Entering into an agreement with Merchant Fleet is a smart move. Recognized in the auto industry for its innovative approach, Merchant Fleet stands by its goal of enabling the movement of people, goods, and services freely and responsibly. Working in all things commercial fleet-related, such as flexible funding, fleet acquisition and fleet management, vehicle remarketing, fleet consulting, fleet electrification, and the power of a cloud-based fleet management platform TotalView®, Merchant Fleet has become synonymous with commercial vehicle purchases and fleets for businesses across more than 20 unique industries. With headquarters in New England, and its Innovation Center in the Chicago area, Merchant Fleet and serves fleet clients of all sizes throughout North America.
The agreement between Merchant Fleet and Stellantis isn’t the first and won’t be the last. Ram has already announced its expansion and additional ProMaster EV commercial/fleet customer agreements will be announced in the coming months. Producing possibly the world’s most competitive commercial vehicle, the 2023 Ram ProMaster has already wowed consumers and business owners with its capability and flexibility. Turning it into an all-electric model not only grows the Stellantis BEV lineup, but can also be added to its service portfolio, with a long history of exceeding professional customer expectations. The first of 26 new BEV launches by the end of the decade (according to Dare Forward 2030), this is only a fraction of the 75 BEVs planned for production in the coming years.
