2023 Ram ProMaster
The Ram ProMaster cargo van has grown up over the years, offering small businesses and vendors work while on the move. Upgraded over the last few years, the 2023 model is doing plenty well. With a new build, the Ram ProMaster is still one of the most configurable models in the Ram lineup
Avail. Cargo Space
The Ram ProMaster of years past was always a bit of a head scratcher when it came to choosing a van and a model. For 2023, this time it’s much easier to make a decision. There are four cargo length models and three roof heights. The cargo lengths are 8-feet, 10-feet, 12-feet, and 13-feet. The three roof sizes are the (1) Standard Roof, with a 66-inch cargo height, (2) the High Roof, with a 77-inch cargo height; (3) and a new Super High Roof with an 86-inch cargo height).
A 1500 model can be an 8-foot or 10-foot cargo van, whereas a 2500 and a 3500 can also be a 10-foot cargo van, or a 12-foot cargo van, but only a 3500 model can be a 13-foot cargo van. The 1500 model 8-foot van comes with a standard roof, and has a max cargo space of 491.4 cubic-feet. If choosing the 10-foot van, the maximum cargo space with a standard roof would be 352.8 cubic-feet, and 409 cubic-feet with a high roof. The 12-foot cargo van has maximum cargo space of 491.4 cubic-feet, and the 13-foot cargo van has a maximum cargo space of 532.35 cubic-feet with a high roof, 598.68 cubic-feet with the super high roof.
Once you have the model you want figured out, the tough part is over. No matter the model, the engine powering the 2023 Ram ProMaster is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, capable of generating 276 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a TorqueFlite® nine-speed automatic transmission, designed with a two-stage variable valve lift, variable valve timing, lower internal friction and reduced weight, the capability of this cargo van is tough. When properly equipped, the 2023 Ram ProMaster can deliver an impressive 4,680-pound maximum payload or a 6,910-pound maximum towing capacity.
Making it easy to load and unload equipment or reach gear is always made easier with the Ram ProMaster. Built with a load floor height of 21 inches, an inner width of 56 inches between wheel wells, a sliding door that opens up to 49 inches, and rear doors that can open all the way up to 260 degrees, tools can always organized and within reach. A new roll up door has been added as an available option on the new Super High Roof van. We assume equipment like heated exterior mirrors, and the option to have windows on the driver’s sliding door and or passenger’s side installed will still be available.
Upgraded for 2023, the van features a new headlamp design, available LED headlamp and fog lamp options, and a new front-end appearance. Just look at those pictures. New wheel options have also popped up, such as 16-inch satin silver alloy wheels, 16-inch black alloy wheels with a diamond cut face, 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels, along with a variety of 16-inch steel wheels. The final touch is a new Ram badge.
Entering the van, the driver can be greeted by a 3.5-inch display or an available digital cluster with a 7-inch display. Although a standard rearview mirror works in most vehicles, the available digital rearview mirror in the 2023 Ram ProMaster is a literal LCD monitor that transmits a real-time video stream from a rear-facing camera when turned on. Up front, consumers can get two bucket seats, a bucket driver’s seat with a two-person front-passenger bench, or two swivel seats. Cloth upholstery is the only option for the first two seating configurations, but leather is an option for the swivel seats.
Made for keeping everything ready to go, there are two USB ports (both Type-A/Type-C) with the option to add an available 115V outlet, and Remote Proximity Keyless Entry is available to make getting into the van easy without needing to fiddle with keys. In the front of the cabin, a phone shelf is setup to keep such devices in a safe, dedicated space – wireless charging available. There is also available headliner compartments for storage, but it seems like a bit of a design flaw, installed in front of the driver and passenger just above head height.
Crew Van and Packages
A new crew van has also been unleashed, available later this year, available to seat six people. With the same front seat options (cloth upholstery only), the crew van also comes with a three-person rear bench, and the entire cabin is separate from the cargo, able to keep the driver and passenger area in a different climate. With cargo lengths of six, seven, and nine-feet, and six different high roof configurations, there are a lot of options. Plus, there is a space under the rear seat to raise the maximum loading up to 13 feet with a maximum height of six inches. The Crew Van also has a maximum payload over 4,000 pounds.
Three exterior packages have been made available for the 2023 Ram ProMaster for a little personalization. The Premium Appearance Group adds some chrome badging and to the grille and fog lamps for a simple touch. If those LED headlamps caught your interest, those and the LED fog lamps ae a part of the LED Premium Appearance Group. The Commercial Black Package adds some black accents, complete with black badging, a black painted grille and 16-inch black steel wheels for a classic work truck look.
The standard setup is still Uconnect 5 with a 7-inch touchscreen, but for 2023, Ram introduced Uconnect 5 with navigation on a 10-inch touchscreen. Regardless, both support wireless Apple CarPlay® for iPhone® and wireless Android Auto™, wireless charging, SiriusXM® with 360L Technology, and the available Alexa Built-In app. It’s a very much connected system for the worker always on the move. Dual integrated voice command with Bluetooth and steering-wheel mounted controls should also be standard. If consumers choose the available digital cluster with a 7-inch display, options like Available Intelligent Speed Assist, Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking and Pedestrian/Cyclist Emergency Braking, and Oil Level Sensor and Available Traffic Sign Information are some of the alerts that can help optimize driving the cargo van.
