Ram and Jeep Win Nine Awards at the 2023 TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo
Nothing like winning a competition to start off the weekend, and Ram Truck and Jeep® are once again dominating the Texas Truck Rodeo. Hosted by the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA), every year, the association holds the rodeo competition to honor some of the best vehicles in the industry. Already leading the pack of their respective automotive group (Stellantis), Jeep and Ram Truck have been known to be some of the top-selling brands. Now that the industry is going electric, both automakers are also releasing new battery-electric vehicles (BEV) like the Ram 1500 REV, 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, and 4xe models like the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. Still, nothing can break the stride of their gasoline counterparts, and the Texas Truck Rodeo proves it.
“Ram trucks brought their A-game again this year, winning several consecutive awards, including the Full-size Pickup Truck of Texas, and scoring the highest for overall personal appeal, which is significant because Texas is the truck capital of the US…We also enjoyed the lineup from the Jeep brand, with several vehicles that were the stars of their categories offering incredible performance, craftsmanship and capability.” – Teia Collier, TAWA president
Who is TAWA? Active since 1987, the association has become one of the most recognized and reputable automotive media organizations in the industry. Establishing itself as a credible group, TAWA is a name that can be found in news-related print, online, and broadcast media. Sharing its data and holding competitions, the average consumer can learn more about their options. If in the market for a new truck or SUV, keeping an eye on TAWA events will help thin the herd of choices. The Texas Auto Roundup and the Texas Truck Rodeo happen every year in the spring and autumn, respectively, and always become a highlight for Stellantis models. Graded on various factors, including exterior/interior styling, off-road capability, overall utility, value, and performance, it takes a lot to win this rodeo.
Don’t act too surprised. 2023 marks the eighth time that Ram has secured some awards for various models in its lineup. Jeep has been racking up awards, too. In Texas, everything is known to be bigger and better, so of course, Jeep SUVs and Ram pickup trucks are there to take home the gold. Winning nine impressive awards, the two brands took home several for various models. Car technology also got its own award to take home for none other than the Stellantis Uconnect 5 Navigation System – Best Feature Award.
Winning the awards for “Full-Size Pickup Truck” and “Highest Personal Appeal” is the 2023 Ram 1500, followed by the behemoth 2023 Ram 1500 TRX for the “Off-Road Pickup Truck” award. Of course, Ram trucks are known for being high class these days, so who could count out the 2023 Ram 1500 Limited for the “Luxury Pickup Truck” award? The 2023 Ram Heavy Duty (HD) Rebel also took home the honor of best “Heavy Duty Truck”. Winning the award for “Mid-Size SUV” is none other than the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, followed by the 2024 Jeep Wrangler for the best “Off-Road SUV”, and the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 for “Best Performance”.
