Ram and Jeep Win Awards from TxMPA Off-Road Invitational
The Texas Motor Press Association (TxMPA) may be an unknown name here in South Florida, but it’s definitely more well-known amongst the auto industry. Every year, the TxMPA evaluates various motorized vehicles, equipment, parts, and accessories. Unlike the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) that holds competitions to find the best off-road trucks out there, TxMPA mainly collects the data, analyzes it, and from there, names a winner. Recently, the organization concluded its annual Texas Motor Press Association Off-Road Invitational this year, and both Ram and Jeep® brands earned honors to take home.

For credibility, let’s take a closer look at TxMPA. A registered 501(c)3 organization in the auto industry, TxMPA is focused on highlighting various aspects of the industry in a way that largely registers with their Texas-based audience. With a membership made up of automotive industry journalists that cover cars, trucks, SUVs, ATVs, and UTVs in a variety of media outlets. TxMPA isn’t just about pickup trucks, but that doesn’t stop the likes of Ram Truck to win an award here or there. If anything, it just goes to show how far Ram has come since it departed from Dodge Ram and went on its own. One of the leading brands of Stellantis, along with Jeep, both automakers have been pushing the envelope in recent years and continue to win awards and accolades for their efforts.
This year, the 2023 Ram 1500 Limited was named the Texas Full-Size Truck of the Year by TxMPA. Meeting Ram in the winner’s circle, the group also awarded the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe received as the Texas Off-Road SUV of the Year and Texas Mid-Size SUV of the Year. These three awards truly highlight the capability that both models provide, as well as the functionality and luxury both models have been moving into as they release high-class models that go beyond the typical work truck or everyday SUV. We expect this to continue when Ram releases its first all-electric Ram 1500 and the all-electric SUV coming from Jeep.
Jeep has already dipped its toes into an electrified lineup with its 4xe series, with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe getting the most attention. An electric pickup truck is definitely a first for Ram, but after the success of the Ram 1500 TRX model, we expect great things for the automaker. The Ram 1500 currently boasts a towing capability of 12,750 pounds and 2,300 pounds of payload. It’s a known fact that electric motors deliver torque at 0 RPM, so we’re looking forward to the kind of towing power the electric Ram 1500 will have. The iconic Jeep Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – should really blow away the competition as an all-electric SUV that can handle going off-road and the many challenging trails that make up the Jeep Badge of Honor Program.
