FCA Showing Off at Texas State Fair Weeks Before 2019 Truck Rodeo
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is one auto group that isn’t a stranger to winning awards. Almost a year ago (October 2018), FCA swept up the competition at the 2018 Texas Truck Rodeo, hosted by the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA). The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 also snatched up the “Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas”, “Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas”, “Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas”, and “Best Powertrain”. The 2019 Texas Truck Rodeo is still a little ways off – October 27-29, 2019 – but that isn’t stopping FCA from bringing vehicles to Texas. The 2019 Texas Auto Show at the 2019 State Fair of Texas concluded last month, and once again, brands like Chrysler, Dodge//SRT, Jeep®, and Ram stole the show.
“We are bringing our best lineup yet to the State Fair of Texas, Texas Auto Show. Every year, we work to build on our past success at the fair and this year fair attendees will thoroughly enjoy our displays and interactives…We are especially proud to bring the newest trucks to the FCA family, the all-new Jeep Gladiator and the all-new Ram Heavy Duty.” – Steve Yandura, Director of the Southwest Business Center – FCA US
Four-time winner of the “Family Car of Texas,” the Chrysler Pacifica and the Pacifica Hybrid minivans are known for winning the title of family car. With more than 100 available safety and security features, the all-new Uconnect Theater rear seat entertainment system, tri-pane panoramic sunroof, Fiat Chrysler has reinvented the minivan segment. Moreover, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the world’s first plug-in hybrid minivan, has an 82 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) in electric-only mode and a total of 32 miles of all-electric range.
Dodge is known for high-performance, and the 2019 Dodge Challenger was easily crowned the “Car of Texas” and “Performance Car of Texas.” During the State Fair, Dodge was proud to show off its latest prodigy, the demon-possessed” 797-horsepower SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, but it didn’t steal all of the spotlight. Also on display was the 2019 Durango, recent winner of the “Full-size SUV of Texas”. The new 2019 Dodge Journey and 2019 Dodge Charger also made an appearance.
Jeep is finally putting a long-awaited powertrain under the hood of the new 2020 Jeep Wrangler. That’s right, it’s the EcoDiesel promised since the debut of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. An 18.3-gallon fuel tank, the EcoDiesel engine is in its third-generation, able to produce 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque in the Wrangler, comes standard with engine stop-start to save fuel, and is paired with the new eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF, a common household name for FCA. Like Ram, Jeep also won a couple of awards during the Texas Truck Rodeo last year, with the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler winning “Off-Road SUV of Texas” and “Mid-Size SUV of Texas”, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee winning “Mid-Size Luxury SUV” – seven years running.
Of course, the champ is here to show off. Waiting for the 2019 Texas Truck Rodeo, Ram put the reigning “Truck of Texas” the Ram 1500 on display, along with several award-winning trucks from previous years. There was the: Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn, “Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas,” Ram 1500 Rebel, “Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas” and Ram Power Wagon as “Heavy Duty Pickup Truck.”
