Automobiles today are becoming less like machines and more like computers. Infotainment systems are no longer a big deal, but putting an operating system into a vehicle and connecting it to consumer-oriented stores in a digital cloud are becoming more and more common. Designed to enhance the consumer experience, automotive groups like Stellantis have taken the newest generation of their infotainment system, Uconnect 5, and installed an Android OS to provide new vehicles with a catalog of apps. Just check out the new Uconnect 5 systems installed in 2024 model year vehicles.

Available in the 2024 Dodge Hornet, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Jeep® Wrangler, consumers respectively get access to new Dodge Connect, Alfa Connect, and Jeep Connect connected services. Upgrading safety, security, and convenience for the modern consumer, consumers get a Vehicle Performance Package for five years, entitling them to vehicle health reports and alerts and over-the-air (OTA) software updates as more features become available. In the past year, Stellantis has also looked into Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) notifications to provide consumers with automatic SOS signals, vehicle theft alerts, roadside assistance, and one-touch access to customer care, as well as notification of upcoming hazardous road conditions.

Partnered with Amazon, many new model year vehicles come with a 3GB/three-month 4G Wi-Fi hotspot trial with Alexa Built-In to stream music, ask for directions, and perform many other smart speaker functions. The 2024 Dodge Hornet and Jeep Wrangler come with a free three-month trial of Assistance and Navigation Packages. These provide consumers with remote vehicle operations, connected traffic and travel services, OTA map updates, Skills for Alexa, driver alerts, and more. Dodge, Alfa, and Jeep Connect apps will also give consumers the ability to customize the interface of their infotainment systems with similar apps like those mentioned above.
