Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep Wins Awards in April
We’re in the second quarter of 2019, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has been starting to collect their awards with the 2019 Ram 1500 named “Truck of the Year” by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press Association, and U.S. News & World Report naming the Chrysler Pacifica minivans and Dodge Grand Caravan on their “6 Best Minivans for the Money in 2019” list. Now, Dodge and Chrysler are winning again with awards from the Texas Auto Writers Association, and the Jeep® Gladiator lands on the WardsAuto Best Interiors List.
Texas, Dodge, and Chrysler
The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) is one of the most reputable automotive press organizations in the industry. With a history of 30 years in promoting quality and accuracy in automotive journalism, they’re known for two large events every year: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall. Check out those links to learn how Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) swept up the competition both times. So of course, the automaker is back to claim awards in 2019.
Winning top honors as “Car of Texas” and “Performance Car of Texas” is none other than the 2019 Dodge Challenger. Taking the highest award as the Car of Texas is an honor all its own, but winning two awards is always nice, and the Dodge Challenger also shined in the Performance Coupe of Texas category. It did share some of the spotlight with other FCA names.
For the fourth-year-in-a-row, the Chrysler Pacifica takes home the “Family Car of Texas” award, remaining the number one choice for families in Texas with the Minivan of Texas award. Alongside Dodge and Chrysler are the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, winning Performance Sedan of Texas for three consecutive years. It’s all thanks to the 44 TAWA journalists that attended and drove 29 vehicles during the two-day 2019 Texas Auto Roundup.
Jeep and WardsAuto
Now, this is truly an honor. Having only just hit city streets, and the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator is already winning an award from WardsAuto? The WardsAuto editorial staff had 33 vehicles to go through and evaluate this year. They scored vehicles based on aesthetics, comfort, fit-and-finish, material quality, and ergonomics. To be eligible, a vehicle also had to be completely new or significantly redesigned for the 2019 or 2020 model years. Of course, a new midsize pickup truck from Jeep fits the bill.
“The all-new Jeep Gladiator is much more than a Wrangler SUV with a bed attached…[the] Gladiator’s second row is completely new, with loads of clever storage options. The second-row seats were redesigned to fold down for storage behind, and for seat bottoms to lift up for storage below. The storage bins can be locked, which is important in the wilderness for those who will leave their vehicles unattended perhaps for days…[and it’s a convertible!]…How many midsize pickups in the U.S. have removable tops? Only the Jeep Gladiator.” – Tom Murphy, WardsAuto managing editor.
The Gladiator’s rugged interior styling, must-have features and technology, craftsmanship and high-quality materials throughout the cabin earned its place on the list. Combining versatility and function inspired by its legendary heritage, the Gladiator is going to be talked about for a long time coming. With the 2019 New York International Auto Show currently taking place, WardsAuto couldn’t pick a better time or place to announce the winners.
