2023 Grand Wagoneer Named Official Winter SUV of the Year by NEMPA

As the year continues to march along, we’re already heading into August 2023, the weather changes, and in some places, that’s not such a bad thing. In South Florida, it feels like we only have two seasons – Hot or Cold. In other parts of the country, there are four seasons, and with them, different weather conditions. This is very important for drivers who may need to drive in the snow or wet road conditions. That’s when consumers turn to organizations like New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) to give them the low-down on what cars are the best for driving in the winter. Well, NEMPA recently concluded its annual winter vehicle competition, and 2023 Grand Wagoneer took home the “Official Winter SUV of the Year” and “Best Premium Full-Size SUV” awards.
“We know from experience that New England winters can be the most extreme with snow and treacherous driving conditions…To have the respected members of the New England Motor Press honor the Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee, and name the Grand Wagoneer the Official Winter SUV of the Year two years running, validates that our Jeep team continues to deliver the most capable SUVs both on-road, off-road and in the snow.” – Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America
This is the second consecutive year that the Grand Wagoneer has earned the “Official Winter SUV of the Year” honor from NEMPA. It’s not a solo win, either. Earning this award and the title of “Best Premium Full-Size SUV” were won by the Grand Wagoneer and its sibling model, the Grand Wagoneer L – a longer version of the model, if the moniker didn’t give it away. Also sharing some of the glory for the second year-in-a-row is the 2023 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, taking home the win for New England’s Best Mid-size SUV. Now that’s a lot to celebrate.
How does NEMPA come to these conclusions? Analyzing the best vehicles for consumers living in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont since 1987, NEMPA connects with 14.5 million vehicle buyers in the market. Appearing in national and regional print, radio, TV, and online outlets with a strong social media presence, the association has a large outreach. Between November and March, some of the harshest times for road conditions, NEMPA journalists put manufacturers’ vehicles to the test in New England’s harsh winter weather. After a day of testing and scoring at NEMPA headquarters in Middleborough, Massachusetts, the winners are announced. Last year, Jeep and Ram shared the spotlight during the NEMPA Winter Competition, but this year, it’s all Jeep – and Jeep related brands.
The Grand Wagoneer is the luxury brand for off-road automaker Jeep. Like the Cherokee models, there is a Grand Wagoneer and a regular Wagoneer model. Moreover, the Grand Cherokee L model extended its name, making an even larger Grand Wagoneer L with three rows to fit the whole family. Jeep models are also known to have great resale value, meaning they keep their value for years to come. If looking for a great vehicle to drive year-round, know that you can find a new Jeep model or Wagoneer at Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
