Ram Truck has been making a name for itself since it released the new generation of the Ram Truck 1500 as a lifestyle vehicle. The Ram 1500 was new, but for those that wanted a work truck, the Ram 1500 Classic stayed behind. Dodge left a mark on Ram, and the automaker eventually put some of that DNA to work with the Ram 1500 TRX (now discontinued). Going green started with 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque is now turning into hydrogen fuel cell Ram pickup trucks. The new 2025 Ram 1500 sheds the Dodge DNA for a new powertrain lineup, and we might not have to worry about saying goodbye.

Yes, the Ram TRX came and went, but it’s not alone. In April 2024, the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO was revealed. The replacement for the TRX, the Ram 1500 RHO, said to be the shorthand of “Rhino” like TRX was shorthand for Tyrannosaurus-Rex, is powered by Stellantis’ new Hurricane engine. A High Output (H.O.) twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is under the hood, capable of producing 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. The Ram TRX might have it beat with a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine, capable of generating up to 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, but the powertrain on the RHO is available on the 2025 Ram 1500.

For 2025, the Ram 1500 loses its 5.7-liter HEMI® engine. Able to generate 410 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque, at first glance seems like a loss. A towing capacity of 12,750 wasn’t half bad either. But take another look at the H.O. twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane engine. It outperforms the 5.7-liter HEMI with 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. The towing capacity does drop a bit to 9929, but it’s still plenty for a small trailer that doesn’t make the truck feel like it’s weighed down or dragging cargo. Consumers can find this powertrain available on high-tier trims, starting with the Big Horn.

Standard is the standard output (S.O.) version of the new Hurricane engine, able to generate 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque optimized for fuel economy with stop/start technology. Past the Crew Cab, this switched to a 3.6L PENTASTAR® V6 engine with eTorque, able to generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, with an additional 90 lb-ft of torque at 0 RPM thanks to the eTorque on the Ram 1500. That’s the new lineup for the 2025 1500 powertrain.

The interior of the 2025 Ram 1500 also ups the ante, starting with a Uconnect® 5 infotainment system on an 8.4-inch touchscreen standard, with Uconnect® 5 infotainment system on an 12.0 -inch touchscreen available on the Big Horn and standard thereafter. Starting with the Laramie Crew Cab trim, consumers can get Uconnect® 5 infotainment system on a 14.4 -inch touchscreen. All trims come with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot Trial included to stay connected while on the road and maybe even experience the joy of streaming their favorite shows and movies when taking a break from driving.

The new 2025 Ram 1500 says goodbye to the Supercharged TRX and the HEMI®, but they won’t be missed too much. Already available and entering dealership lots, look for the new 2025 Ram 1500 at Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
