The Gold Rush Continues on the 2021 Dodge Charger

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! And to those of you reading this the day after, have some eggs. We got a little surprise from Dodge recently, and a day none too soon. Seriously, a little warning would have been nice, but the day before St. Patty, Dodge//SRT decided to extend its High-Impact Paint color, Gold Rush, to the Dodge Charger. When something new pops up on the Dodge Challenger, it isn’t a given that the Charger will be next, but year-after-year, the muscle car automaker shocks us with the likes of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising that this was bound to happen.
“The customer response to the Dodge Challenger Gold Rush exceeded our expectations…We’re sticking to that successful Dodge formula of proliferating our most popular options across the lineup and giving Charger customers, who want the Gold Rush color, the option to have it on their four-door muscle car.” – Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis
That terminology mentioned above, a High-Impact Paint (HIP) color is part of the bright and vibrant legacy Dodge muscle cars are known for. We’ve all seen a Dodge Challenger with that iconic yellow paint job with a racing decal, or the ever popular Go ManGo – they’re part of the HIP Legacy. They’re also paint colors that Dodge likes to hide away in some warehouse every now and then, wondering if they’ll ever see the light of day again. In recent years, more and more colors have been made available to consumers, but who knows when a popular color will disappear due to overuse. After all, part of the Dodge brand is to have something personal and authentic to the brand and consumer.
That’s where the Gold Rush comes in. Joining a palette of Dodge heritage-inspired paint colors, other fancy paint jobs include Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, and Go Mango. We saw it written as “Go ManGo” once before, as in “Go, man, go!” You can’t change my mind.
Also mentioned above, the Gold Rush paint job joins the many new options Dodge has sprinkled throughout the Charger model for 2021. These of course include the new “Demon-possessed” Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Is it a sedan or a muscle car? Called “the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world”, this baby can generate 797-horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. 20-inch wheels were now standard on the 2021 Dodge Charger GT AWD trim, available on SXT AWD trim. Also, whilst the Charger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye come with the stopping power of SRT branding on high-performance Brembo brakes, this option is available on the Scat Pack.
Leading the mid-size car segment for the eighty year in a row, Dodge continues to impress.
