Speculation About Dodge SRT Banshee Resurfaces
Alright people, here we go. The 2025 next-gen Dodge Charger Daytona SRT battery-electric vehicle (BEV) was revealed alongside the next generation of the Dodge Charger in March 2024. First being released in the Scat Pack and R/T trim, the electrified Dodge Charger brings back V8 performance at the start. All the way back when Dodge first announced eMuscle, they called the new lineup Fratzog. This lineup consisted of the Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid, the Charger Daytona SRT BEV, and the 800-volt Banshee. The latter was first supposed to be a powertrain option for the Hornet, but never happened. Instead, Dodge is releasing a third Fratzog model, the Dodge Banshee as its own two-door model.
We can hear the āgaspā now. A two-door Dodge model? This could only mean one thingā¦is this the replacement for the Dodge Challenger?! Back when the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV was still just a concept, the automaker talked about the multiple power options the electric vehicle would have thanks to Dodge Direct Connection. During the 2022 SEMA Show, we learned that Direct Connection would offer Stage 1 and Stage 2 performance options that were then broken down into eStage 1 and eStage 2. Stage 1 eStage 1 went up to 370 kw (495 horsepower), and eStage 2 goes up to 400 kW (535 horsepower), whereas Stage 2 went up to 470 kw (630 horsepower) with eStage 1, and 500 kW (670 horsepower) with eStage 2.
Thatās nothing compared to the 800-volt SRT Banshee. There is still a lot of speculation about this new model, but Dodge has been talking about it since day one. Every now and then, the Banshee resurfaces with a tidbit of information, and this time, the powertrain is starting to take shape. How exactly could the Banshee handle 800 volts? The answer is a tri-motor powertrain. Weāve seen twin motor systems in BEVs before, but three motors is something only one other Stellantis model is known to feature – the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.
When it comes to the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV, this baby comes with a dual electric drive module (EDM) capable of generating 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 300 lb.-ft. of torque in the front and rear of the vehicle. Thatās just the Scat Pack trim ā the R/T is said to be able to generate up to 496 horsepower. In terms of the GranTurismo Folgore, this model comes equipped with an 800-volt tri-motor setup and three electric drive modules (EDMs), able to generate a combined output of 761 horsepower and 995 lb-ft of torque. Now that is the kind of power a Dodge SRT model is known for.
Just think of the possibilities. If Dodge releases the Banshee as a tri-motor setup and dips into Dodge Direct Connection for the advanced eStage 2 module, we could be looking at as much as 1,336 horsepower or more. Dodge isnāt playing around with this one. The only hang-up is a lot of this is based on speculation and rumors, but a trusted source (Mopar Insiders) claims the Banshee is coming soon. Either as a new two-door model or a two-door version of the Dodge Charger SRT BEV is unclear, but the closer we get to 2025, the more certain we should be of what the Banshee is and when it is coming.
