Ram Truck Debuts 2025 Ram 1500 Powered by Two New Hurricane Engines
It’s not even 2024, and yet some automakers are already announcing models for 2025. Most notably, Ram Trucks is getting ahead of the curve this year with not one, but two new Ram 1500 models making their global debut for the 2025 model year. Recently, we heard of the very unlikely electric pickup truck that comes with a V6 engine to power an onboard generator, the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The next 2025 model is an all-time favorite, the Ram 1500, now coming with an all-new powertrain to keep it in the lead of the pickup truck car segment. Under the hood is the 3.0-liter Hurricane engine family for more standard power, more performance, and improved fuel efficiency.

“Family” means more than one, and what kind of Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck would this be if there was only one powertrain option? For 2025, the Ram 1500 offers consumers three engine options to choose from: the all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane, 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output (H/O) Straight-Six Turbo (SST) engine, or the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 eTorque engine. The 3.0-liter Hurricane is able to deliver 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. For more power, the 3.0-liter Hurricane HO SST engine can generate up to 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. Like the V6 on the 2023 Ram 1500, this can generate 305 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The capability gets a nice little increase for the towing capacity, now 11,580 pounds; the maximum payload is still 2,300 pounds, and this 2025 Ram 1500 can handle up to 24 inches of water fording.
The lineup is pretty similar to older model years, consisting of the Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models, plus an all-new, ultra-premium Tungsten model for 2025. That’s not all that’s new for the 1500. Later into 2024, we’ll also be getting a new Ram 1500 RHO joining the lineup to beef up America’s leading off-road and performance truck with more rugged options no doubt. The upcoming gas-powered Ram will also be welcoming the all-electric 2025 Ram 1500 REV to the family much later, sometime during the fourth quarter of 2024 (October – December, 2024). The above-mentioned all-new Ram 1500 Ramcharger will definitely follow, probably closer to the 2025 model-year release date.
The 2025 Ram 1500 will be coming in earlier than that, already scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2024 (January – March, 2024). Pricing is yet to be released, but as we get closer to the date, we’ll know soon enough.
