New Dodge Pursuit Model Teased on Instagram
It’s been a while since we heard of a new Dodge Pursuit vehicle. No, it’s not a new Dodge model made for high-performance – well, maybe not for the public. The Dodge Pursuit model is strictly made for the police to chase down bad guys with the high-octane speed only Dodge can provide. With the automaker going electric, including the new Dodge Charger Daytona SRT electric vehicle, the newest Pursuit vehicle is also going electric. Will it still be able to keep up?
Teased on social media, Dodge gave a fresh look at its newest Pursuit model. Although the image itself, seen above, is a little shadowy, it’s pretty clear that this is a new pursuit vehicle. Aside from the red and blue lighting graphics on either side, the words “Law” in big bold letters and the usual tagline “to protect and to serve” can be made out at the end of the hood. It’s also clearly an electric vehicle from eMuscle, given the eMuscle Fratzog logo in the middle of the front fascia.
The image was found on the Dodge Law Instagram page, the official Instagram page for Dodge Law and FCA US Law Enforcement. Right off the bat, there is a tip of the hat to older models with the caption, “Surely you didn’t think we’d forget about a legend. Stay tuned for more details.” So, it’s all but confirmed that Dodge is already working on a new Pursuit model for law enforcement. Around since 2006, there have been new and updated models every few years, but according to former Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, it’s not a definite just yet.
Taking a look back at other Pursuit models, the 2021 Dodge Charger Pursuit was pretty flashy. Able to come with two powertrain options – a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine able to deliver 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, or the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine capable of 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque – there was the model for the highway chase and the model for hitting the city streets. Oddly enough, the V6 came with an all-wheel drivetrain, whereas the V8 came with rear-wheel drive (RWD). Sounds a little backward, right? What crook would stick to the streets if driving away from the cops?
It sounds like any other Dodge Charger back in the day, so many consumers may be wondering why this hasn’t been made available for retail. That may be because most Dodge Pursuit vehicles are outfitted with police equipment, as well as NIJ Level III+ certified ballistic door panels made from high-grade Kevlar that can withstand powerful gunfire for the driver and passenger doors. There might be one problem with the new Charger model for the Pursuit, though. The latest generation brings back the two-door design of the first versions of the Charger before the Challenger took over and the Charger became a muscle passenger sedan. Good look getting crooks into the backseat with that one.
If anything, an electric Dodge Pursuit model will be welcomed in states that are getting stricter about carbon dioxide emissions, like California. As for speed, the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is capable of generating 496 horsepower. It’s not too bad for a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Of course, if the boys in blue want a little more oomph, the next-gen Dodge Charger features the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK High Output (H.O.), powered by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane H.O. engine.
