Mopar Teases 2022 Limited-Edition Model for SEMA Show
The long-awaited 2022 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is just around the corner, scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, from November 1-4, 2022. Just four days doesn’t feel like enough for consumers to feast their eyes on everything automakers and specialists have to show off in their exhibits. Once name that commonly pops up is Mopar, the subsidiary of Stellantis that specializes in aftermarket accessories and mods for increasing the performance of several brands, including Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram. Returning to the 2022 SEMA Show, Mopar celebrates its 85th Anniversary with a new model.
A combination of the MOtor and PARts, Mopar has been delivering high-level service, parts, and customer-care since 1937. What started as an antifreeze product supplier evolved over 80 years to become the name performance enthusiasts look for when wanting to turn their Dodge Challenger or Dodge Charger into a real muscle machine. Quick bit on that note – the last of the last Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger models are being released, known as the “Last Call” models. Be sure to look for them, because this year, there won’t be a special Mopar Dodge Challenger to send it off.
In the past, Mopar has made special edition models for the above brands. During the 2018 SEMA show, Mopar released the “Hellephant” engine kit that could deliver 1000 horsepower to a Dodge Challenger. The 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate HEMI® engine was a brand-new HEMI-engine-powered beast. A lot of it was based off of the short-lived Challenger SRT Demon, and then Mopar followed up with this in 2019 with a Limited-Edition Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger. Built off of the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack, able to generate 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, this limited edition got upgrades to the exterior and interior that only Mopar can provide.
Entering its 85th Anniversary this year (2022), Mopar is going to do something special, but it won’t be a Dodge vehicle. 2020 was skipped for obvious reasons, but after the Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger, the next automaker to get its own limited-edition model was the Mopar ’21 Ram 1500 Special Edition. Built off of the Big Horn/Lone Star trim with a Crew Cab and 4×4 configuration, this light-duty pickup truck came with a variety of new accessories. Only 250 units were made, but after Mopar designed 100 accessories designed specifically for 2021 Ram Rebel TRX, consumers can still get performance parts for Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, and Jeep models from the Mopar catalog.
With only the Chrysler Pacifica pulling the weight of the automaker at the moment, the next logical choice would be Jeep, right? Exactly right. Mopar will be showcasing a number of customized vehicles and hundreds of quality-tested, factory-backed performance parts and accessories during its exhibit in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. That 15,345-square-foot exhibit space will also debut the new Mopar ’22 Limited-Edition model. Based on the teaser image, it’s pretty obvious this will be a Jeep model, and something with the customization of a Wrangler with the missing front door. That can only mean one thing – a Mopar ’22 Limited-Edition Jeep Wrangler or a Mopar ’22 Limited-Edition Jeep Gladiator. We wouldn’t be surprised about the latter after Mopar showed off a customized Jeep Gladiator at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show.
