Auto shows have picked back up again this year (2022), and there has sure been a lot of interesting stuff in the world of car tech. We saw the Chrysler Airflow Concept at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where most automakers were discussing mobile digital living space as the new automotive wonder. More or less a personal lounge on wheels. During the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, Jeep and Ram showed up, both showing off 4×4 capability. Jeep really showed off its power with Camp Jeep and a 28-foot mountain for that 4×4 performance. In September, we have the Detroit Auto Show coming up, and Jeep will have something new and large on display – a rubber duck.

No, really, look at this picture.

It’s kind of funny when you see this humongous, six-story (61-foot tall), 69-foot wide, 79-foot long rubber duck like the Ghostbuster’s Marshmallow Man towering over buildings in Columbus Circle, New York City. Called the “world’s largest duck”, weighing more than 8,000 pounds, it’s not a real ruck but a large rubber duck that will be on display in Huntington Place Square during the 2022 Detroit Auto Show. Like any outrageous act, Jeep is inviting fans to share in the fun by posting photos on Jeep social media channels with the hashtag #duckduckJeep, and while supplies last, rubber ducks to “duck” other Jeepers. Apparently, the Jeeper crowd this year started the hashtag, with more than 108,000 posts, when a Canadian owner (Allison Parliament) started going around with a bag of rubber ducks and leaving them on Jeeps they thought were neat. It was also during a time where the pandemic was still high, bringing a little cheer to people around the world – the U.S., Canada, Spain, and even Germany!

Other Jeep-inspired activities include the return of Camp Jeep. Taking up a large part of the floor, more than 25,000 square-feet, Jeepers can experience the 4xe capabilities while trekking through a ground clearance stair climber; maneuverability moguls; an extreme break-over; a Jeep tunnel pass-through; the all-new 28-foot mountain, with 45-degree hill ascent / descent; an off-camber; and a 30-degree banked wedge. With 45 degree approach / departure angles, you can really feel the nearly gravity-defying Jeep as the rest of you is being pulled towards the ground (so you better be buckled in).

Along with the monster duck, Jeep will be sharing more fun with consumers. Summer is the time for cool treats, and although autumn will be happening soon, this is South Florida. We can’t hope for cold weather for a few more months, and what better time to try out some Jeep brand-inspired “dessert-rated” ice cream flavors? Created in partnership with Detroit’s own Milk & Froth Ice Cream, consumers will be able to sample the three ice cream flavors – Snazzberry (not to be confused with Willy Wonka’s Snozzberry), 4xe, and Mud Terrain – during the first weekend of the auto show (Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18; while supplies last).

Lastly, attendees will have a chance to win a $100,000 voucher toward an eligible Jeep brand vehicle from Stellantis. All they need to do is register to participate in any Stellantis experience at the Detroit Auto Show and they’re entered into the raffle. Then comes the spam – I mean, the great offers! A winner will be selected in 2023.
