The automarket is shifting towards all-electric vehicles, and it doesn’t seem like many automakers are keen on losing some of their favorites in the lineup. Some are going so far as to release “last call” editions again and again, like the “last call” Dodge special edition models, the last call for Dodge HEMI vehicles, and the final EcoDiesel 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition. Well, Jeep® is still holding on, because it seems the Jeep brand is marking the “final” end of Gladiator EcoDiesel production with the limited-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut.

“As the Jeep brand continues its drive to electrification, we are phasing out EcoDiesel technology with the final, limited-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut…Limited to 1,000 vehicles for the 2023 model year, the special-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut further builds on the industry’s only open-air pickup truck infused with Trail Rated capability and best-in-class truck utility.” – Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America

Back in 2002 when Jeep first announced the new Gladiator FarOut concept, the model was pretty decked out for campers looking for adventure. Pretty much a cabin on wheels, the FarOut concept was equipped with a neatly contained, customized deployable roof-top tent that stands at a height of 7.5 feet and a length of 16 feet, plus the width of the Jeep Gladiator truck bed (when fully unpacked), and enough space for up to four people. The interior cabin came with soft ambient lighting, a fully functional refrigerator and stove, hanging storage racks, built-in seats, and table space. Because this is the Gladiator and a pickup truck, the front cab is separate from the truck bed, and featured its own style with dark smoke blue leather, orange stitching, and plaid flannel seat inserts.

The new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition package is a little different. Powered by the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine, able to generate a best-in-class 442 lb.-ft. of torque, and paired with a TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission, off-road action is a given. Equipped with third-generation Dana 44 front and rear heavy-duty axles, a 3.73 axle ratio, and the Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio is all some Jeepers would want.

Of course, no limited edition model would offer features just any consumer could get. For the outside, the new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition package comes with a “Diesel 3.0L” hood graphic, exclusive “3.0 D” tailgate badge, and “FarOut” tailgate badge; black fender decals; a steel front bumper; body-color fender flares; satin black grille; Mopar spray-in bedliner; and rides on 17-inch low-gloss black polished aluminum wheels wrapped in 33-inch mud-terrain tires. The interior cabin comes equipped with the LED Lighting Group, Cold Weather Group, Trailer-Tow and Heavy-Duty Electrical Group, and Safety Group to add all the best features. Black leather seats with red accents, black leather-wrapped dash panels with red accent stitching, and all-weather floor mats complete the package.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition, has a U.S. MSRP of $69,995 (plus destination fee). Available for ordering through the end of September 2023, deliveries will start in the third quarter of 2023.
