Wow Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) – soon-to-be called Stellantis – wasn’t kidding about new trims coming to the 2020 Jeep® Gladiator. Sure, it was a leak on the forums, so no one can be sure, but is it any surprise that a week later, Jeep suddenly has news about a new concept for the Jeep Gladiator? We think not. Unlike the other Jeep trims that seem to be mainly special editions, this new trim is made for true adventure, equipped with a fully functional pop-out tent. It’s actually pretty spacious.

Camping? More like Glamping when it comes to the Jeep Gladiator Farout concept. This beauty takes off-road exploration to another level beyond the usual 4×4 capability. Of course, a 4×4 drivetrain certainly helps getting around. The Farout concept comes with an assortment of additions to help with getting to your favorite campsite, complete with rear tailgate tow hooks, springs, shocks, a Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit, 17-inch matte charcoal rims, 37-inch mud-terrain tires, a modified Gladiator Rubicon steel bumper equipped with a 12,000-lb. Warn winch, custom front and rear rock rails, and FOX™ performance shocks.

Now, when we say spacious, we really mean spacious, especially when it comes to a vehicle. The Jeep Farout concept is almost a cabin on wheels, literally. Uptop is a neatly contained, customized deployable roof-top tent that, when fully unpacked, stands at a height of 7.5 feet and a length of 16 feet. That plus the width of the Jeep Gladiator truck bed, and you have space for up to four people. Inside, the wood-lined interior features soft ambient lighting, a fully functional refrigerator and stove, hanging storage racks, built-in seats, and table space. The cab upfront has a little luxury with dark smoke blue leather, orange stitching, and plaid flannel seat inserts, but who’s going to be spending time up front when the back is so nice?

“Although we didn’t get to celebrate in Moab this year with our latest round of concept vehicles, we’re pleased to introduce the Jeep Farout concept today as a vehicle that blends Gladiator EcoDiesel’s fuel efficiency with an area of features fans of overlanding will love…Building on the popularity of last year’s Gladiator Wayout concept, and as overlanding continues to grow in popularity, this year’s Farout concept is another opportunity to gather feedback from our passionate customer base.” – Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America

Ah, that makes sense. With all the events shut down this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re missing out on all the usually cool concepts that come out for the annual Jeep Safari. In fact, Jeep designed the Farout concept based on the Jeep Wayout concept from the 2019 Moab Easter Jeep Safari event. It’s a pretty cool take on Jeep Life.

Powered by a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine, don’t expect to be racing to the campsite – it’s more fun to take your time, anyways. With the Gladiator’s class-leading 4×4 payload, feel free to bring plenty of gear to outfit your cabin-on-wheels just the way you like it. Worried about taking up too much living space? An integrated roof-rack system gives you the ability to also pack additional gear topside. Jeep thought of everything.

Hmmm…with all this talk of social distancing, maybe Jeep is on to something with this mobile home. What do you think of the Jeep Farout concept? Share your thoughts on Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram social media.
