FCA Announces All the Goods for the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

February 12th, 2020 by

Since the release of the Chrysler Pacifica minivan in 2016, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has seen much-earned success. Already planning ahead for the 2021 model year, the Chrysler brand announced the addition of an all-wheel-drive system option for the Chrysler Pacifica in 2021, and so far the brand has delivered. What else can we look forward to with a minivan that offers over 97 standard safety features and 116 minivan firsts? Plus, with the recent debut of the next-generation Uconnect infotainment system, Uconnect 5, this minivan is going to have a lot going for it in 2021 onward.

“Through 37 years and more than 15 million minivans sold, Chrysler has defined the minivan segment, and we plan to continue redefining it with the new 2021 Chrysler Pacifica…Not only does this new Pacifica look more capable, it is more capable. It delivers more standard safety features than any vehicle in the industry, offers class-leading AWD capability paired with Stow ‘n Go, a new customizable Uconnect 5 system that is five times faster, and you can even take Alexa along for the ride and see into rear-facing child seats with the new FamCAM™. We also have the new top-of-the-line Pinnacle™ model, and Pacifica is still the only hybrid in the segment. Whatever the challenge, Pacifica offers solutions.” – Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America

Oh yeah, Fiat Chrysler and Amazon have partnered up. The two recently announced their partnership to debut Fire TV in FCA vehicles during the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show. Now, there’s no date on when those vehicles will be released, but a partnership with Amazon is a quick way to also introduce the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant to the Chrysler minivan. It’s not just limited to the new FamCAM feature either.

The all-new Uconnect 5 system, offered for the first time in a North American vehicle and standard across the Pacifica lineup, includes a largest-in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen and Amazon Alexa. With the Uconnect skill for Alexa, consumers with Alexa-enabled devices at home can use simple voice commands to start the car, lock/unlock doors, and more. From inside the vehicle, consumers can continue to use the skill and interact with Alexa as per usual, able to play music, podcasts and audiobooks; add items to their to-do list; check news, weather, traffic, sports and other real-time information; and access tens of thousands of Alexa skills. Of course, consumers can still use the new FamCAM interior camera that delivers a best-in-class high-definition image of rear-facing child seat occupants in the second row and allows the consumer to zoom in on passengers, you know, in case one of them has a cold or something and could use a tissue for all those boogies.

Many upgrades have also been added to the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica lineup. Standard on all models are new LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, and LED rear taillamps; a new Black Chrysler Wing badge insert (not standard on the Hybrid); and a 7-inch digital cluster and soft-touch instrument panel with accent stitching. Oh, and Chrysler has decided to make Hybrid a powertrain option across the lineup instead of separating the two models to keep all four Pacifica trims (Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle).

With the new AWD system, new technology, all Chrysler needs to sweeten the deal is a collection of advanced safety features standard. All 2021 Chrysler Pacifica models now come with Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus with Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Brake Assist, and the new Passenger Side Small Offset Rigid Barrier (SORB) that has improved performance on the SORB crush test issued by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Additional advanced safety features can be found in a new, optional Safety Sphere Package, part of a new Premium Group Package made available for 2021 models. These features include a 360 Surround View Camera, the Class-exclusive ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, and Front and Rear Park Assist with Stop (with Rear-stop only).
