Back when Dodge first released the 2023 Dodge Hornet, there was a little confusion. Wasn’t this model supposed to be the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from the muscle car automaker? During its initial release, that wasn’t the case. Dodge was still pushing an all-gasoline model before introducing an electrified variant. Starting popularity with the Dodge Hornet and launching its marketing campaign “Swaming the Nation”, Dodge is launching another new campaign for the Dodge Hornet R/T and R/T Plus, the real electrified versions of the new 2024 Dodge Hornet – “A New Breed.”

“The new addition of the Dodge Hornet R/T to the Brotherhood of Muscle is a first step in how the Dodge brand will transition to the future, biasing electrification for performance and fun, not compliance…Introducing any new member to the pack can sometimes bring some trepidation, but with looks, feel and performance that are pure Dodge, the Hornet R/T fits right into our family. With 288 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, the Hornet R/T can reach 0-60 in just 5.6 seconds, making it the quickest and most powerful utility vehicle in the segment.” – Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis

Now if that isn’t a testament to the horsepower a Dodge vehicle can bring to the age of electrified and battery-electric vehicles, then what is? 288 horsepower may not be that big of a deal when compared to the mighty Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, but the Hornet R/T is still wearing the sports car appeal of a Dodge vehicle with the acceleration time of 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. We wonder how the quarter-mile time is looking.

Entering the auto market to shake up the Compact Utility Vehicle segment – is that a compact SUV or a crossover? – the all-new 2024 Dodge Hornet comes with class-exclusive and best-in-class performance features to boost the performance of a plug-in hybrid by Dodge. Yes, this includes the class-exclusive PowerShot, an on-demand feature to show up first in the original Dodge Hornet that gives consumers more power at their fingertips. Able to add an instantaneous boost of 30 horsepower with a 15-second cooling time, consumers can keep ramping up the engine like a racing car video game boost. Upgraded from powertrain to suspension, the braking, steering and handling of the Hornet R/T is only made better with standard all-wheel drive (AWD) with dynamic torque vectoring and available segment-exclusive features, such as Brembo brakes and dual stage suspension.

The “A New Breed” marketing campaign is up now on social media platforms and YouTube. Developed by the Dodge brand in partnership with Glue-IQ, consumers can see it everywhere. Personally, the team should’ve listened to this ad a few more times. The voiceover is so quiet, it’s impossible to tell what the guy is saying unless you turn up the volume. Either way, this is the new electrified Dodge Hornet R/T, making waves before Dodge goes into any more detail about its all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV Concept. Now that really should be something else!
