2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Orders Have Begun

“The Brotherhood of Muscle includes families of all sizes and the Durango delivers Dodge performance as the Charger of the three-row SUV segment…And new for 2021, we have raised the bar even higher. The 710-horsepower Hellcat is the most powerful SUV ever. It’s the last piece of the puzzle and, alongside the Charger and Challenger, completes the Dodge brand’s performance lineup.”

Words by Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America when presenting the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. An SUV with the power of the Hellcat series? It may sound a little nuts, but it’s true. With talk of Dodge eventually ending high-octane engines and introducing a hybrid vehicle with the Cuda nameplate, the muscle car automaker is doing as much as it can to remind the world that it’s the last brand still mastering over 700 horses. But with CO2 emissions standards on the rise, the 2021 model year could be the last.

So why not an SUV with an SRT Hellcat engine under the hood? Powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V8 engine, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat can generate 710 horsepower, 645 lb.-ft. of torque, and able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Yowza! We can only see this one on the racetrack, but there are a number of possibilities for an SUV with this kind of power. Even if not looking to push all the new performance upgrades to their maximum potential, 645 lb-ft of torque can still haul a trailer and carry a heavy payload.

Well, the Durango SRT Hellcat, also dubbed the most powerful SUV ever, is now available for order at Dodge//SRT dealerships. This powerful SUV has a starting MSRP of $80,995 (plus destination fee). Along with the SRT Hellcat, the 2021 Dodge Durango lineup has its own set of updates, consisting of the following trims: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat. Even if not powered by the SRT Hellcat engine, the 2021 Dodge Durango carries the Brotherhood of Muscle presence with it, and now has aggressive styling cues to go with it.

Designed with a new front fascia, LED low/high projector headlamps and LED daytime running lamp (DRL) signatures meet up with the grille, matched by a new rear spoiler and wheels. Once inside, get a look at the all-new, performance-inspired, driver-oriented cockpit. Again, a style that carries throughout the entire lineup, drivers will be greeted by a new instrument panel and five-times-faster Uconnect 5, the newest generation of the infotainment system. Also available on the largest-in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen, consumers will be able to configure settings and access features in seconds with perfect clarity.

We mentioned the towing capabilities of this SUV, and we mean business. Available on the Durango when powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V8, legendary 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8, or classic 5.7-liter HEMI V8 is the Tow N Go Package, offering best-in-class towing capacity with a towing capability of 8,700 lbs. If powered by the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine instead, the 2021 Dodge Durango still has a generous towing capability of 6,200 lbs.
