2020 Jeep Gladiator Wins Best Truck at Topless in Miami Competition

June 7th, 2019 by

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that people who post a picture of themselves with a Jeep on a dating site are more likely to get a date. The data was courtesy of a study between dating site Zoosk and website Askmen.com. With 12th Annual Worldwide Go Topless Day® on May 18, 2019, it was the perfect time to show off a new Jeep® vehicle with the top down. Apparently, all the topless Jeeps got some attention, because two FCA vehicles won an award at the “Topless in Miami” competition…it’s not how it sounds at first glance.

“Topless in Miami Presented by Haartz”

Known as the ninth annual Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) “Topless in Miami Presented by Haartz” convertible and panoramic sunroof competition, SAMA is an organization made up of automotive journalists; corporate communications specialists; representatives of media organizations, marketing, and advertising representatives; and auto manufacturers within South Florida’s diverse automotive industry. With more than 140 members from local and national backgrounds and experience, SAMA holds an annual event in its hometown of Miami, inviting vehicle manufacturers to join a friendly competition of putting the top down to find the best convertible and panoramic roof-top vehicles of the year.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Wins Double

Take a guess. Yes, one of the winnings did come from a Jeep. Although a competition focused on vehicles that can fold back or remove the hood, there’s also a “Best Truck” title, and that win goes to the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon was the trim that entered the competition in case anyone is wondering.

“Our members especially enjoyed driving the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, which combines pickup truck and Jeep attributes along with the unique experience of open-air driving…The Jeep Gladiator offers great functionality, versatility and capability, making it the ultimate vehicle for any outdoor, open-air adventure.” – SAMA President Paul Borden

What a way to enjoy the sunny skies, especially as we enter the summer season of South Florida. Hopefully, the showers of spring are behind us and we can enjoy a little more of the beach life. That’s why we always see the classic outing of driving a Jeep on a beach in commercials, typically the Jeep Wrangler and albeit soon the 2020 Jeep Gladiator with the top down. Too bad it’s illegal to drive a Jeep on the beach in most places, but that’s why Jeep added a portable Bluetooth speaker behind the rear seat to keep the party going.

Don’t forget, there was another FCA winner at the “Topless in Miami” event. This one goes to the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio took home the Panoramic Utility Vehicle award, and it’s actually the third consecutive win for Alfa Romeo at Topless in Miami. Back in 2018, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio won the Premium Panoramic category and won the Affordable Panoramic category in 2017 with the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti. Although we don’t discuss other auto brands under the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles umbrella, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a premium midsize SUV that combines world-class performance, unique Italian style, and exhilarating driving experience. Winning the Panoramic Utility Vehicle award for the Stelvio’s available dual-pane panoramic sunroof is just a cherry on top.
