What’s New for the 2024 Ram 2500 HD Truck
As the year grows closer to the end, more and more new model year vehicles will hit dealership lots. Sometimes the changes are many, whilst other times nothing changes at all. Moving onto its new electric lineup, Ram Truck has its sights set on putting the Ram 1500 REV in the spotlight. Thus, other Ram Trucks make not get many changes, such as the 2024 Ram 2400 heavy duty (HD) pickup truck. Still doing a lot of heavy lifting, a single change has been added for the new model year.

For 2024, the Ram Heavy Duty comes standard with a Tailgate Ajar warning lamp.
Trims and Power
The lineup is still pretty extensive, available in seven trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Power Wagon, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. Like most Ram pickup trucks multiple configurations are available. Able to drive on a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, various Ram 2500 HD trims can come with a Regular Cab 8-foot bed; Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed; Crew Cab 8-foot bed; and a Mega Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed (only available on a 4×4 drivetrain).
The standard engine across the lineup is a 6.4-liter V8 HD HEMI® engine, able to generate 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain also offers a maximum towing capacity of 17,730 pounds and a payload of 4000 pounds. Another engine available across the lineup (except the Power Wagon) is a 6.7-liter I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, able to generate 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The maximum towing capacity with this engine is 19,980 pounds, plus a payload of 3140 pounds. Able to go off road with the Rebel and Power Wagon, both trims come with a part-time Borg-Warner transfer case for off-road capability, offering a reduction ratio of 2.64:1 for increased low-speed torque capability.
Style
Standard across the lineup, the 2024 Ram 2500 features automatic headlamps and LED taillamps, illuminated entry, tinted glass windows, and tinted windshield. Past the Tradesman base trim, many features are available, including exterior heated mirrors with turn signals, LED bed lighting, and LED interior lighting. Higher up in their tier, Bi-Function LED Projector Headlamps, acoustic glass, and a rear power sliding window can be found. Consumers can also find add-on features for various trims, including a locking tailgate, a tri-fold tonneau cover, tow hooks, side steps, and the RamBox Cargo Management System.
Inside, evert trim comes with a 40/20/40 split-folding bench or a 60/40 rear folding seat. Heavy-duty vinyl upholstery is only found on the Tradesman, upgrading to cloth on the Big Horn, with leather as an option on the rest of the lineup. Amenities like heated front seats are available on all trims past the Tradesman, second row heated seats past the Big Horn trim, and all trims can opt-in for ventilated front seats. Only the Laramie trim comes standard with automatic dual-zone temperature control, available on the Tradesman and Big Horn trims.
Tech
Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch touchscreen display is still the standard setup on the Tradesman, but can meet up with the rest of the lineup by upgrading to Uconnect 5 on an 8.4-inch touchscreen. All trims can upgrade to a 12-inch touchscreen and add navigation capabilities. Features standard for the lineup include Bluetooth – and if upgrading to Uconnect 5 – Google Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Amazon Alexa built-in.
Several advanced safety features have found their way onto the Ram 2500 over the years. These include ParkSense park assist with forward and reverse stop, adaptive cruise control with stop, and blind-spot and cross-path detection, full-speed forward-collision warning plus, Lane Keep Assist available on most trims. A ParkView backup camera, but all trims can upgrade to a surround-view camera.
