What’s New for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
Whilst all of Stellantis makes the switch to electric propulsion systems, every automaker is slowly dwindling down its gasoline lineup if not having made the jump already. Even though off-road automaker Jeep® has claimed it will be coming out with an all-electric model soon, it seems the giant has been bested by Ram Trucks and Dodge eMuscle. A large lineup takes a little longer to shed, but after it took so long for a third-row to join the party, we don’t see the Grand Cherokee L disappearing that easily. Check out the 2024 highlights.
What’s New

Powertrain
Because this is just a longer version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it should come as no surprise that everything is mainly the same, including the lineup – Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. The standard powertrain is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, able to generate 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. With a towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds, it’s a great start. Consumers can take this further with the award-winning 5.7-liter V8, able to generate 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, also paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. This SUV has a best-in-class towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds.
For going off-road, the Grand Cherokee L comes equipped with the class-leading Selec-Terrain traction management system offers five available terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, Mud/Sand). Extra lift comes from the class-exclusive Jeep Quadra-Lift air suspension with electronic semi-active damping for up to 10.9 inches of ground clearance and 24 inches of water fording. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L also has access to three 4×4 systems available – Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with rear electronic limited slip differential (ELSD).
Style
No Jeep is complete without the iconic seven-slot grille making up the front fascia, plus a solid front approach angle and trapezoidal wheel arches. Across the lineup is a full suite of LED exterior lighting. Inside, consumers find 10-inch display screens across the instrument panel, ambient LED lighting, driver and front-passenger seat massage, and personalized climate zones standard. Grand Cherokee L Limited Black and Summit High Altitude packages can add black exterior accents, 20-inch wheels on Limited and 21-inch wheels on Summit. For superior luxury, the Summit Reserve Package can spruce up the interior cabin with Hand-wrapped, quilted Palermo leather, open-pore Waxed Walnut wood, and standard premium amenities. The wheels also get upgraded to 21 inches with this package.
Tech
Past the base Laredo, consumers also get a 10.25-inch dynamic front-passenger touchscreen. Past the Laredo, there’s also Amazon Fire TV Built-In for the infotainment and passenger screen, or just project wireless content with an HDMI plug. Lots of interesting tech can be found on the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, standard or available. This includes Uconnect 5 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, windshield HUD, digital rearview mirror, frameless digital cluster, rear-seat monitoring camera and an exclusive available premium 950-watt, and a 19-speaker McIntosh audio sound system.
Equipped with more than 110 advanced standard and available safety and security features, consumers can drive with peace of mind in safety. Such advanced features include an L2 driver-assist system with hands-on automated driving, 360-degree surround view and night vision cameras, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane management, lane departure warning, advanced brake assist, Blind-spot Monitoring, and rear park assist sensors, and more.
