We Love the 2020 Ram 1500
When the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was announced, the patience of those who held out finally paid off. Sure, when the next-generation Ram 1500 was first released, it was truly a revolutionary pickup truck. More capable than ever and transformed into an all-around lifestyle truck, capable of going off-road and storing just about anything, and boasting a lot of power, the new Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck even had fans of competitor brands walking over during the last big auto show for a look at the beauty that is a Ram Truck. And yet, it seemed to be missing something…the EcoDiesel engine option was the cherry on top of an already delectable sundae. Look at all these amazing features of the 2020 Ram 1500.
Although it may be the most expensive option of powertrains, adding $4,995 on top of the starting MSRP of $32,145 (plus destination fee), the all-new half-ton third-generation 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine definitely makes this truck stand out. With an impressive fuel economy of up to 22 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined, consumers can already expect some distance, but the 33-gallon fuel tank option (available for $445), and the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel can travel over 1,000 miles between fuel station stops.
Made for more than the road, the Ram 1500 Limited trim comes with a four-corner air suspension with multiple height levels for getting in and out of the truck easily thanks to power-retractable running boards (operated via the key fob), normal driving, and increased approach and departure angles for when taking the truck off-road. When riding on available 22-inch wheels, the 2020 Ram 1500 looks as well as it performs. Power doesn’t just come in the form of engineering, either.
This is a truck after all, and that means storage space for loading up. Many interior storage options were added to the next-generation Ram 1500 released, consisting of more than twelve different storage combinations in the center console, a wider docking area for optional wireless charging of a small tablet or smartphone, a deep storage tub designed for a 15-inch laptop, an additional lined compartment under the center armrest, and another tablet holder for rear passengers behind the two cup holders. In addition to this, a multi-function tailgate makes loading up the truck bed easy. A $995 adds a button on the key fob that opens the tailgate like a regular truck, but consumers can also click a secondary button that shows off a new design that allows the tailgate to open sideways. No more needing to lean over to reach something in the back, being wary of knocking into the tailgate when carrying something large, and there’s a center-mounted step option for getting in and out of the truck bed easier.
What kind of Ram truck would be complete without the RamBox Cargo Management system? An FCA innovation, and available for $995, this adds two more storage areas, one on either side of the tailgate to carry smaller items. Or, thanks to a drainage system, fill it up with ice and have an on-the-go ice pack for keeping some cool drinks handy. Weatherproof and lockable, the RamBox now comes with a 115-volt outlet and relocated overhead lighting for improved illumination.
