Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge Opens Drag Racing Registration
Calling all racing fans! Have you ever wanted to push the pedal to the metal and drag race your vehicle in front of a large crowd cheering you on? It sounds like one of those dreams that are, realistically, most of the time unattainable. But that dream can come true for you this year at MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge. Returning for 2021 after a short disappearance in 2020, for obvious reasons, Roadkill Nights is an annual event, and aside from big names in the industry racing their drag-racing builds, fans also have a chance to apply to show off their own drag racing machines.

Due to an overwhelming desire from many to race each year, 2021 comes with an application form, and if chosen to race, a registration fee of $150. This year, there will be two variants of drag racing during MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge – remember, it’s a one-day event, so it’s now or never. Applicants can enter to compete in either the Small Tire (275 and smaller), or Big Tire (Size Unlimited) drag race. Before the race, the event will have an “open test session” for all participants to make test runs and any tune ups prior. Roadkill Nights has a timing system that will capture the ET of each car down the track, and of those with the fastest times, will be placed into another program. This group is then used to determine the Top 8 of the event.
The race is at 11 am, so get plenty of sleep if entering. After the race, drag race stars will be taking over the track. Eric Malone, star of MotorTrend’s series “Fastest Cars in the Dirty South,” and four well-known stars in the automotive online space – Alex Taylor, Tavarish, Westen Champlin, and Throtl – will be racing for glory on Woodward Ave. Each racer was given a Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye plus $10,000 in cash for modifications. The goal was to build a drag-racing machine capable of beating Malone in the drag race on Woodward Ave.
That’s a pretty tall order. Should be fun to watch, and if you can’t make it to the live event, there will be a livestream feed on many media channels, including Dodge.com, Dodge on YouTube, and DodgeGarage.com. MotorTrend will also be producing a one-hour “Roadkill Showdown Special” to air on MotorTrend’s streaming service and on MotorTrend TV. Enthusiasts of drag racing builds will also enjoy the chance to watch the drag racing stars while building their drag racing machines prior to the event in August.
