Ram Releases BackCountry Special Edition

July 14th, 2021 by

It was just last week that we talked about Ram Trucks releasing new GT versions of the Ram 1500, and these are definitely what they sound like. Entering the world of drag racing, Ram has produced pickup trucks made for the track, powered by the 5.7-liter V8 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid assist and equipped with a factory-installed cold-end exhaust and cold-air intake. This week brings us another new edition from Ram Trucks, known as the BackCountry Edition to give consumers and fans of Ram pickup trucks an all-new lease on adventure.

“We’re constantly expanding and exploring new ideas to meet the needs and fuel the imagination of our passionate customers while offering the segment’s best combination of performance, capability and technology…Ram 1500 BackCountry will resonate positively with customers who live an active lifestyle and this is the latest example of how Ram trucks deliver features and durability that will continue to win over more and more buyers.” – Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis

Featuring robust off-road features right from the assembly line, the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition  is ready to go once it lands on the lot. Every unit comes with 18-inch black wheels, black tu-tone exterior paint, black badging, exhaust tips, headlamp bezels, mirrors, and running boards added to make the exterior stand out. That’s because all of the standard features that make this pickup truck more functional and capable include a lot of engineering. This includes features from two group packages, the 4×4 Off-Road Group and Bed Utility Group.

Together, they add on a lot of equipment to make this Ram truck adventure-ready. The 4×4 Off-Road Group adds on tow hooks, skid plates for the front suspension, transfer case, power steering and fuel tank, rear electronic locking axle, off-road calibrated shocks, hill-descent control, and all-terrain tires. The Bed Utility Group  is more so for taking care of the truck bed when on the trail, and comes with upper adjustable tie downs, bed extender (available with the RamBox only) deployable bed step, bed lighting and spray-in bed liner.

The interior for the new Ram 1500 BackCountry also comes with some changes. Standard are all-weather slush mats from Mopar, and a BackCountry badge can be found on the instrument panel. This special edition will also offer a black interior with bucket seats. Like many special editions, this BackCountry edition is only available with certain configurations. The choices for the new Ram 1500 BackCountry are available with either the 4×4 Quad or 4×4 Crew Cab configuration, and can be powered by either the 5.7-liter V8 engine or the 5.7-liter V-8 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid assist.

The starting MSRP for either configuration of the new Ram 1500 BackCountry is $40,085 (plus destination fee). Sales will start soon, during the third quarter of 2021. The latest edition to the lineup, the BackCountry will also be on display for the Ram Truck brand during the 2021 Chicago Auto Show. Yes, it’s back for 2021, and we plan to see all kinds of amazing things this year after trade shows disappeared from the public eye in 2020.
