Ram Releases GT 1500 Pickup Truck Models

July 7th, 2021 by

When an auto brand decides to introduce some GT vehicles to the lineup, it means one of two things. A GT vehicle can either be a high-performance model, equipped with a powerful engine and engineered to test that power without giving up control. A GT vehicle can also mean something upscale with a little luxury and more comfort for long drives. Well, we don’t expect any Ram pickup trucks to be doing donuts or at the next rally (well, maybe the TRX), but the new 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and Ram 1500 Rebel G/T models being added to the Ram Trucks lineup are lining up with rally race cars!

“Ram has a strong history of performance trucks and the Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T models add to that while expanding the light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology…Ram 1500 G/T buyers will enjoy this combination of performance and luxury that the newest additions to our versatile lineup offer.” – Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis

Expanding the lineup, these models will further solidify the Ram Truck brand as North America’s off-road and performance truck leader. Featuring unique technology and new levels of performance on and off-road, the Ram 1500 G/T models take the ride to new heights. The G/T models add a sport performance hood and G/T decals to immediately separate them from other trucks in the lineup on looks alone, but a factory-installed cold-end exhaust and cold-air intake, available through Mopar, have also been added to give performance a boost. The 2022 Ram 1500 G/T model also comes with Performance pages standard. A popular app for Dodge SRT vehicles, Performance Pages provides the driver with access to real-time vehicle performance information, including timers (i.e.  0-60 mph elapsed time), g-force, gauges, and engine performance. Some also allow the driver to configure certain settings to help them become more familiar with their vehicle’s performance.

The Ram 1500 TRX recently came out, and some consumers may be wondering about the differences. That pickup truck is also very powerful and said to be the alpha of the pickup truck industry. What makes the Ram 1500 G/T models special? The G/T models come with a number of firsts not available on any other non-TRX vehicle, giving consumers the choice of power for fun or power for work. The G/T models stray from the lineup with paddle shifters, a console-mounted performance shifter, and a metal pedal kit. Inside, the cabin also comes with G/T-specific interior offers bucket seats with high bolsters and a G/T logo, and all-weather floor mats from Mopar help to protect the interior.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T are only available with a Crew Cab configuration and powered by the 5.7-liter V8 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid assist. Both of these vehicles will cost over $50k, with the Ram 1500 Laramie G/T starting at $55,480 (plus destination fee) and the 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel G/T has a starting MSRP of $55,375 (plus destination fee).
