Ram Launches “Built to Serve” Special Edition Trucks
The automobile Jeep brand may be known for its off-road SUVs, and as of late it’s also become known as the home of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator midsize pickup truck. Jeep also pays homage to its history in the Army every so often and recently released its 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom model. Being one of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) leading brands, this makes sense. Another leading-brand name under the FCA umbrella is Ram trucks, and the automaker has just introduced new “Built to Serve Edition” trucks.
It’s time to commemorate the men and women of all branches of the U.S. Army and Ram is honoring five service branches of the United States Armed Forces with their new series of “Built to Serve Edition” trucks. Each branch will be receiving its own set of features and details that set them apart and will be honored by Ram with two specially selected exterior paint colors that evoke the spirit, the mission, and history of that branch and the service of the men and women of each. In addition, each model will be offered in a new, exclusive low-volume paint option only available with this program.
“Ram wants to honor those who are serving or have served the United States with distinction…For Ram truck owners, whether military or civilian, ‘Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind. We also want to bring together Ram owners who are not currently serving to make a difference in their communities. We launched our Ram Nation volunteer organization in 2015 as a way to give our Ram truck owners a way to be involved when there’s a need.” – Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand
Rolling out on Veterans Day, Ram Trucks began the launch with a model from one of America’s land, air, or sea-based military branches and will continue to launch another model from another branch over the next three months. Each branch comes with a specific color resembling its service and will have a limited number produced. They are as follows:
- Gator (1,000 units) and Diamond Black (1,000)
- Ceramic Gray (1,000) and Patriot Blue (1,000)
- Anvil (1,000) and Billet Silver (1,000)
- Tank (1,000) and Flame Red (1,000)
- Spitfire (500) and Bright White (500)
Featuring a United States flag and Built to Serve decal on each of the rear quarter panels, each model comes with 20-inch aluminum wheels with a Technical Gray finish unique-to-the-edition, an all-black grille and surround, black bumpers, black-bezel premium lighting, black badges, black wheel-to-wheel side steps, dual four-inch black exhaust tips, and body-color wheel flares. The cabin of each of the five “Built to Serve” Ram truck models comes with unique stitching in a corresponding color that matches its unit: Light Frost, Light Ambassador Blue, Light Diesel Gray, Core Green, or Orange. Inside, consumers will also find Built to Serve-embroidered Velcro panels on the front seats and additional Velcro panels on the inboard shoulder panel. The front seat-back panels are covered with PALS/MOLLE webbing to act as small cargo carrying pouches and add to the overall style.
Looking for more? Each Ram 1500 “Built to Serve’ Edition features a “Built to Serve” instrument panel badge, lockable console storage, deeply bolstered cloth and vinyl Sport seats, Black Onyx Chrome interior trim, and all-weather rubber slush mats. Adding to the capability of Ram trucks, each Ram “Built to Serve Edition” comes loaded up with 4×4 Off-Road Group content. That includes all-terrain tires, an electronic-locking rear axle, hill-descent control, a front suspension skid plate, steering gear skid plate, a fuel tank skid plate, transfer case skid plate, tow hooks, and heavy-duty off-road-calibrated front and rear shock absorbers.
If that’s still not enough, consumers can always apply their own decals and patches (regimental, flags, name tapes, or slogans) to personalize their “Built to Serve” Edition model. The Ram “Built to Serve” Edition” package is available on all body styles and all powertrains of the new Ram 1500. It all started on Veteran’s Day and Ram Trucks put together a little 60-second ad to promote the new “Built to Serve” Edition.
