Jeep Releases Special Edition Freedom Model as US Army Tribute
Known as the original American truck made for the Army, Jeep continues to carry a flag for its history and legend. Earlier in October, Jeep and AM General debuted a New Light Tactical Vehicle concept that truly show off why the Jeep is the perfect choice. Even if this tactical vehicle may never see civilian streets and driveways, Jeep continues to produce army-inspired vehicles. Next on the list is their special edition 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom model.
Special Edition Jeep Wrangler Freedom Model
As a tribute to the men and women in the military, the Jeep brand decided to bring back the Wrangler Freedom edition for the new model year. Being a special edition, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom edition comes with more than just an old name. Based on the Wrangler Sport S, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom comes with an American flag decal placed above the Jeep brand logo on both sides of the vehicle near the front fenders, a new hard “Oscar Mike” – means “On the Move” in army-speak – badge on the rear tailgate and another with a star decal on the hood. Also included is a black premium Sunrider soft-top with deep-tint rear windows and this all rides on Satin Carbon-painted 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with all-terrain tires and side steps for easy access. Inside, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom features McKinley black cloth and black leather bolster seats with Light Tungsten accent stitching lining the seat, on the steering wheel, doors, seats and front armrest. There’s also an “Oscar Mike” embossed on the seatbacks, also in Light Tungsten accent stitching.
“We are thrilled to bring the Wrangler Freedom model back to the Jeep lineup as a tribute to active and retired members of the U.S. military…The Jeep brand has a long military history and the new Wrangler Freedom model is a small, but important way we can honor those who have and continue to serve their country.” – Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – North America.
Offered in a number of colors, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom has a starting MSRP of $34,190 (plus destination fee) for the two-door model and $37,690 (plus destination fee) for the four-door version. Consumers can choose either in Firecracker Red, Bright White and Ocean Blue during the first run of its production run and then later, the choices include Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet, Punk’n, Hellayella, or Bikini. Being a tribute to U.S. military members, the Jeep brand will make a $250 donation to the United Service Organizations (USO) with every Wrangler Freedom edition sold.
With leading-class capability like the Jeep Wrangler, it’s no wonder the US Military continues to work with this model and strengthen its heritage of over 75 years. Plus, this isn’t the only Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) brand joining the fun. Ram Trucks has also built its own special edition trucks for the armed forces. Click on that link to check it out.
