Ram Claims New 1500 REV Will Be Available in Early 2025
Every major automaker is working towards a more electrified lineup by 2030. If it wasn’t for the European Union making stricter standards for CO2 emissions, this may have never happened, or not for a few more decades. 2025 is just around the corner, and there’s no stopping this train now. The Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategy is underway, and several automakers are gearing up. Dodge released its new Dodge Charger Daytona battery-electric vehicle (BEV), Jeep announced the Wagoneer S BEV, Chrysler has been teasing its Halcyon concept, and before all of these was the reveal of the Ram 1500 REV. Catching up with Dodge, the pickup truck automaker claims the 1500 REV will be made available in early 2025.
“We have the technological know-how to execute electric products that can get the job done…Everybody can throw down a big range, etc. OK, do it while towing with payload. That is what we’re trying to drive home. I think you’ll keep seeing that from our products as we go on into next year. The wait is almost over. Even though the Ram 1500 REV was initially revealed about two years ago, the fine-tuning of this beast took a little longer than expected. Stellantis has once gone on record that the reason why it’s taking so long to release BEVs is because the auto group wants to watch all the other automakers’ successes, or failures, and find out what works so they don’t repeat the same errors as their competition. If that’s true, then we should see plenty of raving reviews for BEVs by Stellantis.
Finally, we get an electric version of the 1500 light-duty pickup truck. Powered by a 168-kilowatt-hour battery pack standard, Ram claims the REV will offer an all-electric range (AER) of up to 350 miles, with plans to extend that to 500 miles with an optional 229-kWh battery pack. That’s plenty of adventure to be had. As they say, electric motors are able to generate plenty of torque, close to 100 lb-ft at just 0 RPM. Think of the off-road capability this pickup truck can offer.
An all-electric vehicle, means this baby needs to be charged up. We’re hoping IONNA is going well. The joint venture was supposed to install 30,000 BEV chargers across America, but we haven’t seen many here in South Florida. Where are they? Regardless, when BEV chargers do pop up, the Ram 1500 BEV is capable of fast charging, able to generate 110 miles of range in 10 minutes of charging with 800-volt DC fast charging at 350 kW. That’s definitely a huge plus in addition to the 654 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque the Ram 1500 REV can generate. With a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 2,700 pounds, this pickup truck has definitely been built to be one of the best light-duty electric trucks on the market today.
