Ram 1500 Ramcharger has AER of 141 Miles
A few weeks back, we talked about the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. A series-hybrid model, Ram Truck put a different spin on their new electric lineup. With the Ram 1500 REV (all-electric pickup truck) already on the move, the automaker is definitely leaning into alternative fuel – there’s even a hydrogen fuel cell Ram truck on the way. Still, automakers will continue to look for ways to revolutionize what the market demands while keeping costs low and the consumers happy. One major reason consumers don’t make the hop over to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) is the lack of easy-to-get-to charging stations. Well, the Ramcharger may wash those fears away with a 141-mile driving range and a gasoline engine to keep it going.
Still a BEV, the 1500 RamCcarger is 100-percent powered by electric energy. The difference is that the 92 kilowatt-hours (kWh) battery pack is powered by an onboard 130 kW generator, which in turn is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Now, that’s something all consumers can get behind. Many of us still love our gasoline engines, and it’s one of the main reasons consumers jumped on board with hybrid cars. They still went to the nearest gas station to fuel up, and the small electric motor gave them a boost in fuel economy and driving range. Plug-in hybrids made this even better with a larger battery, but many consumers wonder how often they’ll actually choose to charge up when they can fuel up.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is changing the game. Consumers will still need to fully recharge the battery at a charging station when fully-depleted, but as far as the Ramcharger goes, that may not be a recurring instance. Engineered with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that sends power to the onboard generator, which is then converted into electric power to charge the battery, it’s like a much more powerful regular hybrid car. That, in turn, could be the selling point for many consumers.
“With unlimited battery-electric range, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is the pinnacle of the light-duty pickup truck segment and the ultimate electric truck…The new Ramcharger is a beast of a light duty – 663 horsepower, 615 lb.-ft of torque, 4-second 0-60 mph, 14,000 lbs. of towing… and zero need for a public charger.” – Kuniskis
The Ramcharger also isn’t much of a slouch. Able to generate 663 horsepower and over 615 lb-ft of torque, the Ramcharger can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. Delivering a best-in-class 14,000 pounds towing with a class 5 hitch and a best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 2,625 pounds, the Ramcharger can also be used to get some real work done, or tow a small boat to the lake. Equipped with a multi-link independent rear suspension standard, plus an available segment-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension, the Ramcharger also reflects the off-road capability of recent models.
Finally, according to recent reports, the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger can drive up to 141 miles on electricity alone. So, does it also use gasoline when the battery is depleted? Not necessarily, the gasoline motor isn’t tied to any of the wheels, but the fuel tank can hold 27 gallons of gasoline to keep charging up the onboard motor.
