Jeep Release Gladiator Willys Edition

9Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) just loves to tease new models. Not too long ago, we got a sneak peek at the upcoming Jeep Wagoneer SUV, but it was literally just a teeny, tiny peek. However, there was another Jeep model coming out that shared a moniker once synonymous with the Jeep Wagoneer. Over the summer, someone snagged a photo of upcoming Jeep Gladiator concepts soon coming to showroom floors. Well now, the wait is over, because the 2021 Jeep® Gladiator Willy is now available.
“Building on the widely popular Wrangler Willys, we’re thrilled to announce the Willys model is joining the Gladiator lineup as another way for Jeep to connect with our customers…Gladiator Willys models harken back to the original Jeep lineup while offering an aggressive look and additional increased capability.” – Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – North America
Marking the first time the Willys concept is being reintroduced into the lineup, the Jeep Gladiator is the perfect selection to test out the new edition. Yes, that’s right, the 2021 Jeep lineup is introducing a Willys edition trim, or at least that’s how it sounds in the PR. When it comes to the Gladiator Willys model, a number of new features come standard. Consumers can look forward to off-road and terrain equipment like a limited-slip rear differential, Rubicon cab rock rails and shocks, 32-inch BFGoodrich KM2 mud terrain tires, Jeep’s Command-Trac 4×4 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.
Together, it all adds to the Gladiator Willys’ off-road capability, but if looking for a rugged appearance to match, no need to worry. Exterior design cues on the Jeep Gladiator Willys Edition feature a Willys hood decal, heritage 4WD tailgate decal, unique black 17-inch aluminum wheels with gray pad print, a gloss black sport grille, and come with all-weather slush mats. If looking for a little more, the Sport S-based Gladiator Willys trim also includes the standard Technology Group that adds a 7-inch radio with connective services, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a one-year SiriusXM subscription. This Sport S also comes with the Convenience Group, known to add a universal garage door opener, remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power liftgate, and dual-zone climate control, to Jeep models in the past.
Like all Jeep Gladiator models, the Gladiator Willys has been engineered to handle off-road conditions that are characterized by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording. Available in eight colors for some personalization, the Gladiator Willys edition can come in Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet, Firecracker Red, White, Hydro Blue, or Snazzberry. Also like all Jeep Gladiator pickup trucks, consumers also have choices for the roof and doors. Currently available for order, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys has a starting MSRP of $35,265 (plus destination fee).
